Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

We are finally drying out down here. We received a good 12 inches of rain in our area. Luckily, our property is elevated, so no flooding. Bonus is that I haven't needed to water the garden! Downfall, I think it killed off my pepper starts. Pulled the 1st tomato for BLTs last night along with some lettuce which is still going strong. Weeds will be coming on strong.
Just returned from camping in Osseo for the weekend.
Jim I just hate it when you put up your pup pics!!!!!! They are too darn cute.

Hi all!
It is hot!!! Us or the critters aren't used to this hot and sticky stuff. Hope everyone (and everything) is doing well in this.
Chickenscratch glad to hear you escaped the flooding, hope it continues.
Jim, you're killing me with the puppy pics! :barnie They look so healthy and well cared for, good job sir.

Keeping an eye on the radar up here, so far so good. Had to make a trip to town for appts today. Too miserable to do anything else anyway.

Take care everyone.

Went and picked 3 bags of tart cherries today with my mom. Dad doesn't really like cherries so I got to keep everything we picked. My sister joined us for lunch. it was a really nice day. Surprisingly, it wasn't overly hot while we were outside picking (about 1 o'clock). It sure go hot and sticky about the time we got home and the sun popped out.

I took these today, just before they moved off of the deck and into the big pen.
I think they like all the extra room.
I just learned something .
If you click on a picture it will enlarge,, I knew that.

That I didn't know..
OMG so adorable! I don't plan to get any more dogs when my two go. I still have lots of time hopefully, but need to stay away from puppy pics lol. Mine are 5 and 6 year old border Collies, but no puppies for them!

Hi, I am new to raising chickens. Over the past ten weeks, I have been raising three Rhode Island Reds and three Plymouth Rocks from pullets. They were med free at purchase so I immediately started them on medicated chick starter to get them going. They've gone through two bags and I just switched them to regular grower feed. I hear a lot about vaccinations and deworming, but have not done any of this as my chickens seem happy and healthy- and honestly, I didn't know any different. Are there certain vaccinations or medications I should be giving my chickens to keep them healthy? Should I have specific medications on hand? My chickens are partly free ranged, partly kept in a run and at night, kept in a secure coop on a two acre yard. Thank you for the guidance!

Hi new,:welcome
You are doing just fine.
some people will scare you half to death with advice about shots, vaccinations. and medications
if you made it 10 weeks without a hitch , you are pretty much in the clear.
just sit back and enjoy the chickens.

Hi other Wisconsinites! Just found this today so I thought I'd say hi in between all the chicken illness research, cleaning everything and chasing the kids I'll be doing and yes those puppies are adorable!

:welcome Welcome to the new folks. We love sour cherries here...they make the best Cherrie pie.
Hard to believe that I've been in bed for 3 days with influenza. I've wearing insulated clothes in a house with no a/c...the chills and aches are no fun or the sore eyes and headaches. Slowly improving it seems like though.
