Where did the weekend go?

Gonna be hunting again in the mornin. Doc thanks for the kind special words....yep the harvest is never taken for granted here on the hill...prayers on my knees before I enter the woods and always prayers to the creater when blessed with a harvest. He is in my heart, and knows my Native American heritage. I had a great first 6 hours on the stand...Passed 3 shots on young bucks....It was truly a blessing to be able to spend the time afield.....many more hours for sure....not a single one taken for granted.
The javas are handful for sure. Mostly because I ended up with 11 cockerals out of 15 chicks. I'm thinkin that facilities for the extra becomes king when overwhelmed with extras....God I wish I had whole big barn...

Good Morning Everyone! Bigz sounds like you had a beautiful day in the woods! Have been watching the flowering crabs drop their leaves, their always the first. WCc can relate to sleep issues. Not a fun ride to go on. Twice I've had to take a prescription med. I was waking up at 2 AM. The more tired I got the worse it got. Now it's just early to bed early to rise. L's mex spicy pork came out perfect! It's on the menu now. There's a very small mex store not far from here and she got all the right ingredients including some delishious corn tortilla's. Think I'll head back out to the woods today and split what I've got cut up looks like rain off and on all week. Enjoy the beautiful day!

Many years ago I broke both my legs and a bunch of other stuff on Sept 16 and spent a month and a half in the hospital watching the fall go by...I think that is why I love fall so much now--'cause I missed one! I've never had blood pressure issues until the economy and my career went kablooie, so I'm sure that's what's going on.

Good morning everyone, I start my new hours today so this is a good thing. We're going camping this upcoming weekend, I love fall campiing and here's hoping the weather remains temperate and seasonable and we get to see some fall foliage. We're gonna be camping at Wildcat State Park and canoeing on the Kickapoo, which should be a great place to be this time of year.

Doc H I love the Chicken TV....we'be been watching it alot this summer and it's always action packed!

Well, I've the go ahead from Mom to get some more laying hens, so next week I'm picking up 6 more ameraucana pullets from Wayne Meredith to replenish my laying stock. I've got to read up on how to integrate birds into the flock. We're getting wheatens and a couple of black ones. I'm psyched, people are constantly on us for eggs and we're having a hard time keeping up with demand. I charge enough per dozen...$3...to just offset feed and equipment costs, and at that price it just about does it.

Yup--low pressure on my blood too. The Doc always asks if I get dizzy or anything--nope! I am glad 'cause a lot of my family suffers HBP. I hope the new hours work for ya BBCB! You can pass some of those egg customers to me please! I am sitting on about 12 dozen right now. Probably take them to the food pantry tomorrow. I hate for them to get too old and I have been eating so many soft boiled eggs I think I am starting to look like one!
Made up some Bruschetta in a Jar yesterday and need to can it up today...good dreary day to do some canning.
Good luck on your hunt Bigz...I sure wish my DH hunted! We only get venison if somebody gives it to us or we hit it with the truck! (long story)

Couldn't help it I was under the influence. I took a white magic marker and drew knobs on the "TV" then outlined them in black. Had I been "influenced" duing the cutting I would have cut a round screen in it for the memories. BL4 that sounds scary! Mine has always been on the lower end too! BOO! Did that help? BBCB as I'm sure your aware stress kills. Mellow out man! So your going to be naughty and try and get some hens under the fence. You know it won't get under mom's radar. I love camping in the fall too! Although these days I would hardly call it camping. I LOVE stepping out of camper in the morning with the birch leaves coming down in a seemingly endless cascade of color and then taken whizz in the yard. There's just something magical about it. I'm serious! It puts a smile on MY face! Then grab a large travel mug of coffee, my favorite musky bait and pole and walk to the river. Make some hopefull casts and watch the sun burn the fog off the water. It makes me feel whole. It's just really cool!!!! Sprinkles have squashed my splitting plans so just doing minor things. Think a nap is forth coming.

Good Evening All...thanks for the good luck Terri. Bowhunting is one of my passions. Did you guys hear about the black bear they shot just 20 miles from here in Bowler? Possible new state record. 736# bruin that was 8ft long. How would you like to meet him on a logging road? The guy is going to have a full mount done

. His weapon was a rife in the 308cal. What a shame it wasent taken with a bow.
Started working on building nest boxes for the new coop. Man I suck when it comes to construction.
Didn't get them done, but it takes me forever to build anything, so I can't expect them to jump together, now can I?
Still need to thin the java crop of more cockerals..

Okay. I broke down and put up some Halloween decorations today. I just couldn't wait any longer. I Love Halloween! My favorite holiday. And this weekend we're going camping. And they are having a Halloween thyme and stuff goings on.

I get to play dress-up!

I'm getting 9-11 eggs now!

Havn't had that many since before the dog attack back in January. New layers are so much fun. It's like getting a present every time a new layer starts laying. ( See! I am addicted to my PET chickens!)

Well, I slept well last night, and now, its 12:15 I laid down at 11 and tossed and turned for 45 mins.. now up again...
took a few more things to try to help me sleep.
I think either one of my older hens is laying again, after a year off, and the young light brahma is starting to lay.
My silkies and frizzle polish are laying, but not in any nest box.. just plopping them on the floor.. grrr.
I think some how all of my supposed silkie chicks are cross bred, not a single one is showing silkie feathers. I know three are not, but one should be.. and its not either.
My cross beak EE is doing great, and Muffy the new EE is almost out of QT, she can't wait to join the flock...
And my bad leg frizzle cross bred chick is doing much better and standing on her legs a bit more now..
So I had the horses feet done today, and found time to actually give them a semi spa day too.
Lets hope I fall asleep before 430 this time.

Good Morning Everyone! Been wondering when you would be getting your decorations out fm. Don't forget to post you punkin pics this year. Sort of glad to hear your getting eggs maybe that's what's going on here. Didn't think it would take that long for them to recover. Been wondering about WC too, hasn't post in awhile. Hope he's alright. Oh WCc that just sucks about the sleep! Glad to hear about your frizzle cross hope it continues to improve! WOW Bigz thasa dang big bear. Can't imagine coming across that in the woods like you say. Don't care if Blacks don't bother humans I'd be gone. Had to look like a VW beetle. Raining so I'll have to amuse myself inside today.
