Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Slap me if you are sick of me posting pics, I can take it!

Here's my lone silkie chick that hatched from a group of 4 shipped eggs. He's got good company, but is my only silkie.

Had a good time using up a big bag of wings from my freezer. Homegrown chicken and noodle soup.

(oops, sorry for that 2nd pic's size, didn't cut it down enough, but wanted to share the peep on Santa's lap, LOL)

Guess I'll play PR man again. We have so many new people not everyone knows. Last June we had our first meet and greet, putting faces to names. I might have the history wrong so forgive me and correct me good people if I do. Bigzio started the cheesehead thread so we agreed that we'd call it the First Annual Bigzio Bash! Bigzio was his beloved rooster who has since passed but not forgotten. It's his avitar. We got together at a campground in Waupaca, everyone brought food and dishes to pass. We got to sample some very delishious recipies. BCC you have to bring that cabbage again please please please! So many were involved with setting it up but if memory serves fordmommy, and bl4 were the main players. Some brought various animals to sell or trade. We had a white elephant raffle and a game called find the quail.

[Sorry fm and TO I had to.] Long story, newbies remind me to tell it!

bl4 got a banner from BYC to hang up. We had a ball! The only problem was that it was too short! We only had a few hours to get to know one another better. In my case they were lucky! It's understandably hard for people to get to a destination especially with kids around noon and get them home to bed. What we need is a central location with camping/ RV/ cabins/ motels. And fishing for the kids and Laura.

I'm going to look into several parks in the area as I'm close to the center of the state. But that camp Bigz sounds great! I'll see what I can find out but don't know how it could beat a set up like that. If we can get a site and date set I guarantee if you come you'll love it! So many good people in one place at one time! If we decide to do the camp we better move fast to reserve it. People, The Second Annual Bigzio Bash is on it's way!

Start getting some input posted.

Dr. H, FM and Terri did a LOT! I just got the banner! I think we had about 20-30 people show up.....

Just look for something that will allow us to bring birds; we all had a good time checking out the birds Annarie and Jim brought, and somebody was naughty and brought baby bunnies......

Someplace with a decent shelter too (it rained off and on last time and it was COLD!)

This time we should get a mailing list generated and a recipe book..... we did a kind of white elephant gift exchange last time (I owe Dr. H some blueberry jam...)..... It was a LOT of fun and I agree, WAY too short! This year we need to put a word in with the man upstairs about the weather too!

It would help to know where everyone is coming from. I feel like I'm the only one on the west side! lol.

I would love to help with this. However, my job may be such I can help plan but not be able to go. (Insurance adjuster, we go when and where the storms hit)

I think a recipe exchange would be good. Maybe we can all bring a few and make our own Cheesehead cookbook? Or the recipe for the dish you bring?

Also, maybe we can do like a one time secret santa? Maybe one person (Administrator) has a list of everyone going, and they draw names and pm us to let us know who we have? $5 max? Just a little fun hello gift? Maybe something that is barnyard related?

Did you guys do a sign up sheet for food? Or did you just bring a dish to pass?

We did a sign-up sheet for the food, and when we got there did a number draw for the gift exchange. We have people coming from all corners of the state, so I have been looking at someplace easy to find, close to major highways, and centrally located somewhere in the middle of the state.

I think Dr. H is talking about a campground by BigZ that belongs to the Lions, I think it is by Marion. We thought about using it last year but instead had it at Hartman Creek State Park.

FM did a ton of leg-work on having everything ready for people at the site. She and TO had all the picnic tables covered, power strips, name tags with our BYC names and a place to write our real names..... TO ran the internet sign-up sheet on the Meet and Greet section of the BYC forum. She kept track of all the people who were coming and what dish they were bringing...... If I am forgetting anything I do apologize!!!!! All I did was contact Nifty and get the banner delivered! Next time we will bring better supplies to tie the darn thing up!!!

Ok I will check the Marshfield/Wisconsin Rapids/Stephens point area. That is about 4 hours from me and is pretty central.

I will let everyone know what I find if anything. I'm assuming sometime during the summer?

After school lets out so the kids can play, so sometime after the beginning of June.... that way people will have chicks/juvies to swap or sell.
