Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oshkosh should probably be avoided because of the air shows. It is crazy over there that time of year. It is the biggest air show in the country.

Portage, Oshkosh, kewauskum are all even further for me. Like I said, I feel like I'm the only one on the west side of the state. But as mentioned before, if I can make it, I will.

It took 3 years to find a house we could agree on! I was the one holding out for land but I think we got 90% of what we both wanted and so far love it here! Grant you we did not have the pressure of having small kids to get into a decent house, however my oldest son has M.S. and at some point may have to move back in with us so it had to be wheelchair assessable. But we have about as much land as we can keep up, and I have my chickens! The house is kind of old (parts of it anyway lol) but it's pretty sound. It's also large enough that if any of the kids and their families have to move in, they can.
I guess what I'm saying is be patient . Put up with what you have as long as you can and "the right place" will come along! In any case... Good Luck!

BC, that was why I have been suggesting places around the Mauston/Rapids 'area' so that everyone can have a good fast highway to jump on to cut down the drive time. Maggochie, my big bro lives in MN, so I know that drive time for you can be cut a lot if you can stay on major roads. It takes him longer to get to the middle of the state than it does to get to Madison. I think the place BigZ mentioned is fantastic; too bad we can't move it about an hour west!

Oshkosh is only 'crazy' during the EAA, and that is at the end of July. I drive past the EAA grounds every day on my way to work.

I just wish we could find someplace that is more centrally located so that people from the far SW or NW regions can cut their drive time.

Dr. H, did you PM FM at all about this?

Good Morning Everyone! Hey I'll sell ya house in the country. 2 bedroom, garage, two stall machine shed, coop with run, 2 deer towers, 8 wooded acres, 3 miles from town. $50-$60,000 needs work.

Long list today! The needle is above zero, might get the coop cleaned out today.

Have a good one!

Ok how about beaver dam or columbus? Something located off of 151. Fondy maybe. Maybe today when I get home from work I'll try to find something that is central enough for all the key players. For me because I am in the middle of the state everything is going to be an hour or more. Mauston would be good too. Like I said, no matter where it is I'll be there, I just thought we could move it over a bit. Ok off to work. Later Tators

Now Becky pull out a map and put your finger on Iron Ridge then look at the rest of the state.

Just looked up Jordan Park near Point. I've been by there numerous times and is really nice but don't know what the animal rules are. Major highways from all directions. Seems I made a mistake when I unplugged the heat tape to the water pump yesterday.

Got enough for coffee

I still have to drive almost an hour south to get to a major hwy. But like I said, dont worry about me. If I can make it, I will. Otherwise I'm sure you all will have fun.

OK I finally got caught up. BigZ that place looks super cool, it would be my choice and OMWord so close to me.

but time and time again I'm hearing about how far it is from others.

I hear people saying Mauston area. What about the Dells area? is the centrally located? we've been going to a camp there for a LONG time! My husbands step dad has been going since HE was young. Now I'd have to talk with the board, but it's not gonna be no $80 for the weekend. MAYBE we could get a deal??? there is no pavilion, but there is a "Hall" of sorts, its called the dinning hall. theres plenty of room to camp, via tent or cabins or pop ups or what ever you have. theres a main bath house, and some? if not all cabins have bathrooms, IDK about horses never seen any. I'm sure critters would be fine. located on the Wis river with river accsess. ??????? just a thought?

as for PMing on where we are located, when one first enters the Where am I? Where are you! forum, there is a thread on pin pointing where you are in a google map???? I'm in there. is not everyone? although I'm thinking on placing the pin IN the town. I think I will

the black puppy died!

Mmmmm chocolate pancakes! Gotta go!

I know folks want a place that is some what near Mauston or the dells.. but any place that can be camped will be filled on weekends. And horses would not be allowed. IF some one knows of some one.. who has private land up in that area. BUT bathroom could be an issue, unless we rented a porta john.
I like the place at the church, my hubby could come and ditch me to go to Lambeau and watch the Pack practice.
I do think however that we shouldn't bring horses, as there is no where to ride except a half mile hiking trail, and I don't know how many of us want to walk that and pick up horse apples off the trail there.
ALSO....horses will urinate and eat the grass, I am pretty sure the other people who might camp over or during their church camp, won't want horse urine smell in and around their camping spots.
I love my horses and would bring them in a heartbeat.
There is a really nice place to camp in Rock Co, south of Madison, North of Janesville/Beloit..., its at Gibb's lake and all we would need to get would be a group camping permit.
IT has horse and hiking trails, a lake, and 1 permanent portajohn.

Just a thought
Carol
