Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi fellow Wisconsinites

(Yeah Packers!!!! What an odd nailbiting game yesterday)

I am new here and am wondering if there is anyone on here from Eagle, WI. We live in the village of Eagle and I am wondering if anyone knows what the city ordinances are regarding chickens. Our original plan was to raise day olds and move them to my friend's coop (she probably has 50-75 chickens). But, I wonder if we have 2-3 hens if we could keep them in our backyard in a moveable coop. We live in a subdivision - 1 acre of land. My son wanted to try chickens for 4-H and we literally know nothing about them, but I thought it would be a nice livestock animal for him to have/show at the county fair. My company IT guy has chickens in his subdivision in New Berlin in a moveable coop and loves having them there - he keeps telling me we should do the same, but I want to check ordinances etc to make sure we don't get ourselves in trouble.

Thanks and I'm really enjoying reading all the information on this site!!!

4H is great for the kids all mine are in it. I would check with the village on keeping them. Chickens are easy to keep and raise. Good Luck and check back in.

Treeva--you should be able to find the info on line...does any one else keep hens near you? If you are only keeping a few you probably can get away with it as long as you dont have any roos...donate eggs to your neighbors too...

that helps! Dont they always say it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission? I say "go for it!"

I live in Big Bend, and big bend doesn't allow chickens! (But I have ducks) However, vernon, mukwonago and surrounding areas do. Try going onto the village website (Google "Village of eagle WI") and look up the ordiances there. I am pretty sure you are able to keep livestock out in eagle, as I know of several grass fed beef places out there. Although, better safe than sorry!

ok I'm just gonna put this out there! to the Ladies?! I'm having a Lia Sophia party (jewelry) was just wondering if any of us Chicken lovers are jewelry lovers? PM me if you would like more info! BTW it's a NEW catalog!

So happy to be a Packer fan, I talked to some people today that were at the game and said that the bear fans really aren't very nice even to the bears team members.

Treeva,
IF you look back through some previous pages you will see a post by a person here called Hurley. She lives in Palmyra, so she should be able to help a little.
I used to do some work for some folks near Old World WI, near Cty rd SS. Near where the S. Kettle Moraine is.

Welcome to BYC!
