WOW annarie thasa aloto quail! Jim I got his dad from fm just before her coop got broken into by a dog and she lost a lot birds. Thought he got reprieve then last July something got into my coop and we lost him. I hatched out 2 of the eggs from him. He's a red sex link. I bet you have hours of entertaiment with mom.

WICc if you've got it too then it must be a computer virus

Foggy Afternoon All....I didn't get any of the apple trees pruned today because ...... I couldn't find them., or the backyard today.

Pretty eggs Annarie, gonna be fun to see how many hatch.

Good to hear your felling better Doc....hope you washed the sickness down real good.

Someone posted about using chicken manure on the gardens? I think everyone has their own methods. I take the time to clean under the roosts daily all winter long. I apply it directly to the gardens up till March 1st. I like a three month rest before planting. After March 1st I have a circular wire pen that it's dumped into till after fall harvest, then it gets emptied onto the gardens. I'm thinking of trying the tea method for watering some things this growing season. It's good stuff for the gardens and none goes to waste here.

Had to laugh when you mentioned black and white like a holstein cow....that's the color of one of our house cats. Her name is cow kitty, but we call her cowdy!

Ha! Cute name for a cat Bigz! I was going to say if you want b&w ducks Raimnel you can have some of mine...but they dont "QUACK!" yup--I have muskovies too. THanks for the info on the fan...I told DH that is what he had to do but I guess he doesnt trust me! I thought that is what P2 looked like DrH...I have one or two just like him! On those Jaerhons...I will take them off your hands! I am always looking for something different to add to the flock.

Went to Milwaukee today to have lunch with my friend Jen and to visit my son (for his birthday) and then to my folks' place to see how they were doing. Everyone is good. My Dad had cataract surgery yesterday and his eye looked weird with it's tiny pupil...My son was hung over cause he and his sister went out last night for his birthday...she didnt even go to work today! (Darn kids

)
Guess what? DH has an INTERVIEW tomorrow!!!

It is for a place in Oregon...I will have to have him say hi to Carol! He is also going to talk to a guy at Briohn in Milwaukee...please keep you fingers crossed for him (and me!)

Oh my GOSH the drive home was TERRIBLE!!!!!

A major power line went down over HWY 41 in Neenah RIGHT at the exit I need to take to pick up my DD. Traffic was a NIGHTMARE!!! 41 was at a dead stop; all side roads were clogged with cars; and to top things off the HWY 10/76 interchange was also closed due to an accident!

I was SO happy to FINALLY make it home JUST as the fog started getting bad again.

It's been a day.....

evening all, skipped miller time and went right for the wine..
Mom was restless.. wanted to go to church,.. then she didn't know where she wanted to go.. after settling her back in her chair about a half dozen times, I got her up and walked her around the living room a few times.. then she ws happy to just sit and take a 2 hour nap , and then she went to bed.. I guess the nap tired her out..LOL

eggs are piling up !!! I am saving the eggs from just the new hens.. they are such large eggs that I can hardly shut the cartons.. nice dark brown eggs..

we are up to 26 eggs a day,, almost 90% laying.. it is going up by about an egg per day..

my blue laced red wyandotte is afraid to go into the coop at night.. I think the Dels are kicking his butt.. I netted him tonight and tossed him in with the new turkeys.. I don't want to leave him out and get ate after feeding him all winter.. Last year he gave me 71 pullets out of 84 eggs set.. I want to try that again this year..

I think we have a ghost in this house.. I just looked, and my wine glass is empty.. how did that happen?

when do you have enough pens and coops? NEVER !!!!!
I need breeding pens,,,,at least four more as of today..

I wouldn't if the geese were a little more devoted to their mates. but those ganders like to wander, don't they?? it is like: Mom"s not looking, hmmmmm, that white one looks nice...

SO when did Ilinois need new senators?? JK

My sweet little niece is sick, I watched her today, she is a blast to be around.
I had to help the auto glass guy get the door panel off and then help him get the glass in, and then hold the tract and internal panel for him so he could get the bolts and screws in.
DH said I should have gotten some of the money of our deductible back. I said.. After having watched him.. I now know the basics of putting in glass!!!

The funny thing is, this install guy was not the same one assigned to do the job. He was a replacement/senior staff person, apparently the one they assigned to do the install whined and
was afraid to do it, he literally threw the work order at the nice installer who came...
Even more funny that the lady who I called at their office lied to me saying he was out on a job, if that was so, why would the replacement installer get here so quick, and tell me that they were at the office
when it happened.. really... you can't say he is out in the shop?? office lady???
Doesn't matter, my car's window is fixed... now I just need to get a starter.

I so want to get that garden burned off, especially now that I got a coop full of "wormy litter" to burn!

But, now it's going to be windy...grrrrr.

and breeding, and ducks and all.........IT"S DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!

I so want to do that, but there is so much to do here before I even think of doing anything like that! ,

Sure hope we can make it to the meet-up in June! I so would like to meet some of you and see what you bring for sale! I only have 8 hens now and the coop looks so big!!!

LOL I may have to go into the egg business!! DH works in a wholesale food warehouse that has a retail store. Well, I guess word got around that we have chickens and many people have asked when we were going to start selling eggs!

By the way it sounds I could sell 20-25 dozen a week!

Need more chickens!!

!( How many would you think I need?) I get just over 3 dozen a week now and can just keep up with what we and the kids use!

Hope everyone who's sick or getting sick feels better.... weather (though nice) is messing people up.... DH and I have both felt like crap off & on for the last few days.... or weeks.... or months....LOL




ODD question...maybe... How can they put "fresh farm eggs" on egg cartons when the farms are more like factories and the the eggs can be a week old or even "frozen" before they reach the store?.... grrrr I hate "store" eggs!
