DA, I would NOT provide them with a pool until they have some feathers. Ducklings are normally waterproofed by mom rubbing her oil onto their downy fluff; without mom they will become waterlogged, cold and if the pool is too deep they will drown. Supervised swims one in a while are OK of course!

Ducks don't roost either, they will sleep on the floor.
Who wanted my buff call female???? I am headed south tomorrow and we could meet along the way if it works out.

This is the funniest thing I have heard today! my 'scovies roost. they kick the chickens off!

Yep - for my littlest ducklings (less than 2 weeks old) I give them a pie plate or a paint pan full of lukewarm water and let them splash around for 5 minutes or so. Then, I towel them off and put them back under their heat lamp. They love it!

I don't know what to do with it? I removed 24 eggs. (22 of the dels, most unfertile) one EE that was developing but was cracked and had blood ring.

and 1 RIR, that was porus and unfertile. Theres more in there that I not quite so sure about. I may have to call Dave (where I got the Dels) with the news. sigh, I lost enough to turn a 'bator off. like as if I'm turning it off lol, gonna set more eggs.

later all!

For Aves: I had a polish chick with severe crooked beak last summer. She could eat some, we coddled her a bit, but she was very stunted. We processed her with the extra roos, I have never seen such a skinny little carcass. It looked like a pigeon. Who knows if she ever could have laid eggs? She did make good stock though. I guess its up to you with your bird; if it seems like its not able to grow, you may want to cull.
Oh Raimnel, thats a lot of eggs to look at! I bet you were ready to

Annarie- I will buy some females off you at the bash. I currently have 4 females and 4 males. I was going to hatch some more eggs when I'm done with the chicken eggs in the bator, but the last time I producted one girl and two males. I would rather just buy some girls. Let me know if that would work for you. Terri-Im on it.
Jim-Im keeping it between 99 and 100 and the humidity between 45 and 50. Hopefully I get a good hatch. Congrats everyone on the new chicks and Have fun DrHa- I have some dry wall that needs to be finished in my house next. Let me know when your coming.

I always say we are like the cobblers children here. I married a contractor that makes other houses beautiful, but can't seem to get trim on my own windows. Oh well maybe some day. Well Im off to make supper. Later

It's up to you if you have something to sell, or just show for the fun of it.
