Congrats on winning the Poster Keedokes!! That is awsome!!!
Today is day 18 and Lockdown day for the Dominiques and the Bantams. Hopefully on monday, I'll have pips, zips, and peeps!!! The only thing that has me concerned is that sunday we are expecting a storm with severe weather. I'm thinking the humidity naturally will go up, so I'm hoping that will not cause issues with the hatch.
I'm also trying not to freak out that the power might go out....Gahhhh!!!! Why did I want to hatch!!!! Argh!!! The anxiety!!!! Then, which brooder to put them in!!! Ahhhhh....did I say the only concern was high humidity????
So, my large
TSC chicks are still an unknown breed. I'm also pretty positive that they are roosters. I'm thinking they might be a Freedom Ranger type of meatie. I'm leaning to putting them on Meatbird feed, get them fattened up, then processing them. It's unfortunate since I actually like those little buggers. I feel real sorry for any one else who bought those birds thinking they were Production Red Pullets 'cuz clearly they are not PR's nor are they pullets. It may still be a little to early to tell, but they are feathering in and they sure act roo-ish. The brooder they are in my dh calls "our box full of roosters". *sigh*
The Bantam
TSC chicks are still unknowns as well, bit I think I have a silver Sebright. The other two are more them likely OEGB's but it is still to hard to tell but they are roos!!! Maybe one hen...maybe.... The Aseel has green legs so that sucks since I won't be able to show him unless he changes colors. He's a rather funny bird, but then again he is an Aseel...
The Orloffs are getting bigger and fiestier but I have a confession to make. While I love Orloffs and I want to help preserve the breed, I'm falling head over heals in LOVE with my Barnevalder babies. They are dang cute to absolutely beautiful chicks and so sweet! I've never had them before so I'm seriously trying to justify keeping all ten. I was orginally only going to keep a couple but know I'm thinking to devest myself of more Orloffs to keep the Barnevelders....
@dk1=Im glad your feeling better! Also, just as an FYI, unless Janesville has changed their ordinances very recently, chickens are not allowed in Janesville. I'm not sure if that applies to your location as far as Janesville goes. I know that your "subdivision" has rules. I know that last year the city council voted on allowing chickens in Janesville but it did not pass. The vote was 2 in favor 3 against. The awsome news is that the 3 "against" voters are no longer in office and were replaced however the 2 council members that stayed are pro chicken people. So if the vote comes up again, hopefully Janeville will get to have chickens. Where you will live may be different (as far as ordinances go) then the "city" itself.
