Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

glad they all survived the night, All the snow is gone now from the storm, hope it is the same for everyone

Yes I will be bringing call babies to the bash; right now I am checking to see if I can get any of my girls to go broody. They have two nice clutches of eggs outside, and it looks like Jules is getting ideas but nobody is sitting yet.

DrH, you need to put those babies in a room where you can shut the door, and then put earplugs in! Or give them a featherduster to hide in.......

Nice joke Jim!

Ach this snow!!!!! I think we ended up with 6 inches total, there is still a ton of the stuff on the ground (and yes my Christmas lights are still on).......

Getting ready for Easter; I still have no idea what I should be making for both houses...... pie? cake?
hu.gif
I also want to run to Sams and pick up a leg of lamb for my moms house (the in-laws do not care for lamb....).

Should get up to 50 today so say bye-bye snow!!!

Enjoy the day!

Just got home from the post-office. Lots of peeping chicks in the brooder enjoying a bite to eat and some good fresh water. Lost one chick in shipment, but considering the temps and the 2 day trip (why does it always take longer from Iowa than from California for shipments?) they appeared to fair quite well.

Will be fun sorting out who is who since I ordered a grab bag of fun things to fill out the order for Iowa Blues.

No pips yet in the bator, but they aren't due until Saturday. Looks like lots of early hatchers on the Easter hatch thread. Mine got set about 12 hours later anyway, so it'll be this weekend.

Hope it's a false alarm with the PO, BuckCreek, and all is well.

Good morning! I am amazed at the blue sky...just makes any day more happy!

Of course I have a client this morning, but then I am going directly to walk the dog so I will have the afternoon to "play" around here. After all the straightening up I did in the house yesterday it doesnt look a whole lot better...

At least the floors arent crunchy any more!

fl.gif
for your chicks BCC! That would be darn disappointing to have a box of well, you know....
BL4--hasnt any one ever told you not to count your ducks before they have hatched?
lau.gif
I hope you have some babies to bring too. My trio has 5 eggs now...but only one nest. I did see them mating yesterday so they should be fertile. I thought she was going to drown...they were mating in the deep pool and he barely let her head come above the water! Sassy boy! I still dont have names for them. I think you did but I have forgotten what they were...they are collectively "Little Guys." THey are much more cooperative than the Muskovies too; they now have the idea that they have to go back into the stall for the night. I still have to put them in though. I think they hunt for worms and stuff in the grass at night!

ODrH--
fl.gif
for your hatch! GLad to hear that your chicks arrived safe! That is funny about the PO--I can get a letter to my Mom and Dad in Milw overnight but if I send one to my friend in Jefferson it takes 2 days? Crazy! The chicks I got from you a while back are pretty much grown up! I still cant tell if I have two roos on the Cuckoos though! I think one is still deciding!
gig.gif
The bantams...what are they again? I know I contacted the lady you got the eggs from and they are SQ stock...but I forgot the name! They are so tiny!

Jim--I sure would come and help you with your tractor! I could at least pass you a cold one when you needed it!
bun.gif
I have a question for you too...any idea why the birds I got from you at the swap are 2 different sizes? It is very strange that about 1/4 of them are small and the others are really big! They are all supposed to be the same right? THe chicks that I hatched 3 weeks later are larger than some of yours! Like I said...strange things going on at this farm! Cant wait to see what they turn out like.

DrH--I see a nap in your future for today! You have had a few rough days havent you?
hugs.gif
Hopefully things will go smoothly for the rest of the week and weekend! I laughed about HM pizza (with ham) for Easter! Very non-traditional!

Good luck with your prep H&R! I am glad we are going to Appleton to my brother's place. I have to bring a veggie platter...was going to make a bread bunny like in my cookbook...but then I'd have to do two...I cant imagine having both sides of our family here! Only if we ate out in the barn!

Well, off to work for me! Talk later and as always; have a fantastic day! Terri O

(PS) no peeping of pips for me yet either ODrH. Can I send in a "stink eye" pic of my cat?

good morning all, two more turkeys in the aquarium TV..
that makes 3 yellow turkeys, 1 brown duck, 4 white guineas..
color TV !!!

would you guys believe that I got kicked off a group for that duck joke? yup, this morning.. the Mod claimed I stole the joke from him and it was a private message.. LOL To top it off, he quit my group, too.. I have had that joke in my files for years..

they where looking at the wrong box of chicks, all 31 of them made it,
ya.gif
not the 75 i was expecting but I'm happy, more on 5/3

TO, I get the eggs from Brian, my neighbor /friend.. I have never been able to hold onto any of the chicks long enough to see them grow.. 2 weeks was about the longest I ever kept any..
the reason there are two different sizes is because some of them are larger than the others ?? LOL maybe the bigger ones are roos ??

Hard to keep up with this thread... so... for those awaiting peeps, good luck, for those with hatchlings, hope they all remain healthy.

DrH glad the newest arrivals are doing well. TO has the right idea take that well deserved nap!

Glad the hear the weather has improved.

Seems I've spent to much time on here... last night I had a dream that one of my DD's had a pygmy goat (looked just like a smaller version fo the goat we had when they were little) and a huge Tom Turkey roaming around their yard. I'm blaming it on my nicotine patch, not this forum

Bit of bad news yesterday, credit union board denied everyone's mortgage apps that were before them. Seems they are under some sanctions at the moment and are being extra cautious. CU manager is going to bat for us today... we'll see where we end up, we should know by days end.

If not, we'll just put things on hold a couple of months and start looking again when they lift the sanctions and the board feels more comfortable. The way I look at it is we'll end up right where we supposed to, although I'm sooooooo ready to get up there!

Well, off to pick up DH at airport, have a great day all!

how ironic is this? they just closed down a very nice restaurant here in wausau, to build...............................another bank !!!!!!!

yup, they had to look really hard, but they found an intersection without a bank on it....

I just transferred 5 dozen eggs to the hatcher.. due 4/23
found only 5 clears,, and 3 iffies.. (air sacs on the wrong end) etc..

tomorrow I will transfer 14 dozen more.. Java and Delawares..

I have so many of each kind of eggs set, I am going to separate them by species. I have about 20 different due dates to keep track of.. I might go so far as to write the dates down.. LOL

well, I am done with that project.. I have another goose pipping. hope this one makes it..

I have 50 turkey eggs, 26 guineas, 12 goose, and 40 barred rocks..I broke only one egg in the sorting..
