Well as of 10:50 AM we are now pumping a theoretical 11,500 GPH from the crawlspace. Was running a 1/2 hp 4,500 gph pump but with the rain this morning I could almost see the level rise. Off to TSC I went, had to nick the emergency fund, too close to the end of the month for that kind of cash. Didn't screw around bought the highest rated electric one they had. 3/4 hp/ 7,000 gph. Just checked it's comin down.

Come on survey crew!

:sigh: Shiocton lost another student

it's so sad. accident on 76 with motorcycle. :shake head: he was pulling out to pass a car that was stopping for their driveway, the car turned right into him. people are stupid. IDK if their turn signal was on or what. But I have been in this situation more times than I can count. apparently if a car is "going to slow" on a road that is 55 MPH it needs to be passed! there is NO way that that person could be pulling into a driveway!
roll.png
Just this a.m. I was coming up to my driveway, I was within a mile not close enough to turn the signal on, I was still doing 55 and someone passed me. Now was the time to turn the signal on, in which I did however at the same time the truck behind me decided that he too was going to pass me. Now what? do I continue? do I change direction, and "get the mail" instead, so he can "pass" me? thankfully he seen my turn signal and slowed down and backed off. this is the very reason that when we arrive at our driveway, we just pull over to "get the mail", not crossing traffic or slowing anyone down or not getting in anyones way. please friends remember my warnings when you are thinking to pass someone, watch for those driveways! that could be the reason the person infront of you is going slower (than you) so sad!

what a PITA.. we do not have it as bad as you.. too bad you can't get somebody there when it is full like that.. sometimes a visual is better than all the words you can use to describe a situation.. too bad you can't pump it at one of the town board member's houses.. LOL

tell them that at election time you will remember all the names who transferred you..

Some people just do not heed turn signals.. all they want to do is pass anything in front of them.. Or my favorite, when I signal to switch lanes, have somebody who thinks they can still beat you and pass anyhow.. don't get me started.. LOL If you want to continue living, you have to think for the other guy, too..

Ha ha. I can picture your place. Hope the pumps work. They say the water tables are really high now compared to last year.
It is pouring in Wausau. I am not looking forward to walkies tonight but the chows so love it. BIanca and crew are fine. I am glad they are inside

Afternoon All!
Terri and BBC-cute chickies! I love them fuzzy butts!!!

Not much is going on here. Blaine's had a sale on some ammo, so I dragged dh last night to help me pick what we needed. I'm really glad cuz I kept showing him the great deals on the 12 guage stuff. Finally he said to me "But we don't own a 12 guage". "Ahhhh...." I said. "Do we need to get one so I can have a gun for all the "wrong" ammo I want to buy since I can remember the number 12?" He sighed and handed me a box of 20 guage.

What else, oh yes, we rototilled a new section added to the garden and I'm hoping we can plant this weekend. I need to get weed fabric/cloth to put down to help cut down the weeding the garden chore. Planning on planting corn, peas (yum!), bush and pole beans, radish, carrots, cuccumbers, pumpkins and squash for the chickies and me!, tomatos, zucchini, peppers, and maybe turnips. Oh and some sunflowers. All heirloom varieties. Except I might sneek in some hybrid white sweet corn- double yum!! OOoooo, I might try potatos too! I've never planted a potato. Should be interesting!
I have my containers all ready for my strawberries, lettuce, tomatos, and onions. Now the rain has to go away.

The barnyard/banty mix chicks are in the chick tv and they are getting used to being on "diaplay". One is very bold and likes to pick with my hand a little. The snot!
The TSC group, Barnies, and Orloffs are all doing well and the Chickzilla's I need to move to the "chicken shed". I have never seen a chicken get that big that fast. They look like they should be 12 weeks and not 6 weeks. I have yet to re name them but we did name the little roo- Winston! We have no clue as to what he is, I'm thinking OEGB but he is tiny for one. Maybe. I've never had an OEGB from a day old. Just pawned off adults.

I tell ya, this is weather only a duck can love!

When I went out to feed the horses and the ducks before work this morning, it was raining and blowing like crazy. When I opened the granary door to get to the ducks, they all rushed me en masse to get out, and I fIgured I'd round em up once I was done collecting eggs and filling their feed trays. Well, I go out to their yard to get them to come back in, concerned that the high winds might tumble and hurt them (hey, it's happened!) but they scattered. There are 22 of them. Rounded them up again, only to have another contingent break to the right. The kids on the bus must have had a laugh at me running around, waving my arms to ducks that were blissfully ignoring me as they chased after worms, and after other ducks with worms. I gave up, shaking my head and laughing at those naughty girls, and went inside to get ready to leave.

I got to work only to find we had no power at school! Apparently at one point, about 12,000 WPS customers in the Green Bay area were without power. We're a small school, but it was still a challenge to entertain high school students in a dark cafeteria. (Hah, what are YOU thinking?) Around 10:00 came the call that we were going to close for the day; the buses came back for the kids, and the teachers were sent home.

Ten minutes later the power came on.

Got some chores done, took a little nap with the cats, checked on the (stone foundation) basement, which has the expected stream of water running from one side to the other. The attic still has a leak dripping into a plastic tub. And the ducks are still playing in the water and making a mud hole out of their nice green yard. But they are happy doing what they do! High egg production expected for tomorrow.

Keep dry and I really hope everyone gets their water problems solved soon. This ain't letting up anytime soon from what I hear.

before you let him take the pigeon, I want some fertile eggs from it..

that is one smart homing pigeon.. fly away, and wait for a ride home.. LOL

wasn't that pigeon from out of state??

I transferred 34 chicks to the brooder this afternoon.. that makes 41 total from this hatch.. there were a lot of (here we go again) iffey, iffie eggs going into the hatcher.. when I came back down here, I found one on the floor.. He must have dropped out of the hatcher while I had the door open.. He was OK, but a little unhappy.. I stuck him under my sweat shirt to warm up and then he got quiet and happy..

this dreary cold day is making me sleepy.. I think it is nap time.

later , I have to tell you a funny story of what Mom did today..
A bit insensitive, but still funny..
