I took that nap that I threatened to take.. then my son and his girl friend showed up for supper.. Annie made a duck, a chicken and a small turkey with all the dressing and mashed potatoes etc.. Now I am ready for another nap..

we have a goose pipped.. and a couple of chick stragglers pipping ,too..

Hurley, what kind of cabinet incubator did you get?

I think the other Toulouse goose has decided to set up housekeeping.. she has no eggs of her own.. I hope she lays a couple at least.. I might have to let her sit on turkey eggs otherwise..

we got the jungle fowl rooster and his two girlfriends caged up in one of the breeder pens.. He is not the least bit happy about it.. one of the hens layed an egg.. the other hen was setting on a nest, so she might still be broody.. we will know in a few days..

Good evening...dinner was delish! I got the chores done early and then moved the remaining 13 chicks downstairs to my brooder room. I put them in a plastic box but couldnt close the hinged top cause it got too warm...I hope the older ones dont jump in with them...I might take down some wire I have to put over the top--I would hate to lose the rest of them! Better get that done and then get to bed...lots to do again tomorrow! Good night-sleep tight! Terri O

(PS) congrats on the development of the eggs Keedokes! I am sure the kids will love them! (you too Hurley) It is so nice outside now I am wishing someone was closer to go on a horse ride...I kind of miss having my daughter here at home...(did I say that?)

Oh yeah--BL4, my duck pulled a bunch of her feathers last night too. She is not naked but the nest looks so soft and warm now!

Nice thing is, finding eggs never gets old.

Saw a Craigslist ad, someone in Clintonville has a bunch of farm animals for sale, and 4 Norwegian Jaerhons

(3 hens, 1 roo). Man, too bad it's not closer, can't justify that drive with these wretched gas prices. Hmm, maybe they'll last until the Bash?

We just got the new shower all installed, and discovered today that now, when the shower's running, it's leaking into the basement! Can't find a pipe leaking down there, so the leak must be in the wall, behind all the new drywall and acrylic we just put up.

While we were running water, trying to find the leak, I decided to let all the Call ducklings splash around in the tub a little. They had a blast, and everyone was nice to little Screech while they were all in the tub. But when I tried to put them all back into the brooder together, the two bigger girls (well, I think they're girls - I think both the Blue Bibbeds are girls, and the older Blue Fawn is a drake...but we'll see in a few more weeks!) attacked little Screech pretty viciously. They kept grabbing Screech by the neck, flipping her over, and then biting at her tummy, and it looked like they were pinching her pretty painfully.

Interestingly, the older Blue Fawn duckling doesn't even acknowledge Screech's existence.

Anyways, little Screech is still in solitary confinement. I tried putting the older Blue Fawn in with her, but he just freaks out trying to get back into the other brooder then.

I shipped a batch of 8 Call duck eggs to Florida today. Breaks my heart a little bit to sell any of them, but there's no room in the incubators, and I can't just toss them or eat them. We're going to start showing the house this weekend, so I suppose I can't be hatching and brooding tons of chicks and ducklings in the basement anymore anyways!

Speaking of which, the house we had our eye on has a flooded basement (no electricity, so the sump pump isn't working, and with all the rain we've had...), and the owner (already moved away, so the house is vacant) doesn't care! We don't want to deal with any water damage or mold, so we're house-hunting again. We're going to see 4 houses this weekend - 3 of them I really like!

Good Morning Everyone! WAAAY too many posts to comment so I'll just say congrats and sorry to hear! Apply it where it fits. Don't know if the new pump shut off or not but it's real close to doing so. I'll drop it into the pit next to the other one today. Gonna put the new points in the tractor today and get that up and running. Tried to buy just a coil wire yesterday NOPE gotta buy the whole shebang.

They came and surveyed the ground for wires last evening, I left a message on the field managers cell that it was a go to start digging.

otonoh looks like Bianca is the runt, she obviously will be the favorite! Can't believe how much smaller she is, she's lucky to have survived! Better get movin!

Ok let me remember:
SF-sorry to read about your shower leak...I've been there! We went through the same thing but had to have our bathroom completely torn out and re done. Luckily it is the size of a postage stamp so it was not to bad. Our leak was from the drain, It dripped into the floor and then the basement. The contractor pulled up 7 layers of floor most of it wet and discusting only to find that the PVC drain pipe network was never glued together by the previous owners "relative".

Sounds like the duckies had fun though! Poor little Screech though! She needs to be a house duck!

Keedokes-hope you get those ordinances passed. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

Hurley-I hope you get your handfull of chicks that you want.

Terri-what was your DD thinking? I'm sorry for your losses and it was not as bad as it could have been.

Susie-Congrats on the Jungle Fowl egg!!! That is terrific! Nothing beats the excitement you feel when a long awaited egg from a favorite hen finally shows up!! I hope you get more!

Jim- a duck, a chicken, and a turkey!?! Plus all the fixin's?!!?!?!?! I'm stuffed just reading about it! Sounds good though.....

otonoh- Bianca sure is a cutie. As long as she eats, drinks, and acts normal and active, she'll be just fine. I'm thinking she'll be your favorite! I cant wait for more Biance stories!

DrH-Hope all goes well with the digging and getting your tractor fixed!

Ok, I'm done! Now, I have to go clean brooders and dust. I hate dusting. I used to hate vacuuming but know that I have a super sweet vacuum, I've switched to hating to dust.
Oh! Then and roast the chicken for the dogs, and clean the rabbits cage and get the fat rabbit out to roam...*sigh*

Good Morning everyone!!

Well we are just about moved in, I have to go pick up my barn owner/friend at phys. therapy today, then jet back to the new house, grab the truck and trailer
and move the snowblower, lawn mower, box springs and other stuff from the shed at the old house.
Pick up my DH from work at 5 pm, clean, then get back to the new house... ACK!

I got wrangled into picking up the medically needy fjord, and his old Paso Fino companion. I have to go pick up my clients new horse, and cause its... vaguely in the
area, I am being paid to pick up the other two. I am doing that tomorrow evening.

THEN getting up at 3 am to go hang out with my DH's cousin and her daughter to watch the royal wedding.
I may end up going tonight, as the NFL Draft is tomorrow night... UGH..

Now to go to the bank and find out what is going on there, a 63 dollar withdrawl happened, on a check # that is an electronic withdrawl...but to WHOM??!!??
sigh...I want some peace and quiet.
