Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good afternoon, I put 3 remaining goslings out with the turkeys.. they are all doing fine out there.. It is about 82F under the brooder hood, but they wander out during the daytime.. sure got quiet in the house..

got up at 5 am and sat on the deck with the .22 again.. of course the owl did not show.. a rabbit did show.. I left it go.. I figured it would make a good bait for the owl along with the ducks and chickens..

we got a couple of colored guineas hatched today.. I think they will be sold by tonight..

the Hmong lady's chicks are all done hatching 31 out of 54.. 60%ish.. not too good, but I have no control over the eggs before they get here..

another turkey hatched.. 5 in the tv..

the guinea lady(Marlene) called me today.. she is bringing 3 dozen eggs on Thursday..

drew some on the hand cart plans.. I have 2 different designs going.. limited to just under 34 inches wide.. that is the width of my narrowest gate.. mainly need it for carting sacks of feed from the car to the different coops..we have a 2 wheel dolly, but that handles only 2 sacks at a time..

I watched a big hawk buzz the yard a few times earlier.. prolly needs another crybaby gosling.. Annie still doesn't know..

Dave, you could hang your bird cages in your chicken coop and you could feed both with one fill-up.. the area around my bird feeder has no grass. the chickens pick it clean..

I have sprinkled cracked corn around the base of several trees, like my multitrunked apple.. no need for a weed whacker..

Yeah Brent, I was going to keep some Java's.. but when the sale is there, and I have way too many chickens------sho am I to say no ?

dkvart1 if your dh comes dressed like a chicken, have him wear a hat so we can tell him apart from the real chickens..

just had another call. looks like a couple of the newest turkeys have found a new home already...

I went some eggs with a guy 4 days ago for his mother to hatch.. Just for kicks, I slipped an almost due to hatch egg in with the new eggs.. He knew about it, ut he didn't tell his mother.. she called him today all excited that she already has a turkey!!! LOL Now he is coming to get some playmates/companions for her turkey.. I think I just hit on a gimick !!

We're holding him to that one, DK! Now that I've got to see!

Better not tell him I said that, though, or for sure he won't want to come.
Cind, good luck on the new coop. Sounds like you have no shortage of things to keep you busy.
Sorry to hear about you son. Do you have handicap transport vans in your area? You should if you're near Milw. They will pick him up & take him home. Medicare, SSI & one other one (can't think of the name) should help pay for it.
DrH, glad to hear it. And also glad you had a lot of help with the cleanup.
Dornes, congrats on the new babies. Hope they all arrive healthy. And it sounds like your DH can't say much about the extra chicks, since he doesn't like brown eggs. And you could sneak in a roo. Just tell him the hatchery must have made a mistake.

Pretty funny that he doesn't like brown eggs. He prefers the tasteless, store-bought ones? Sorry to hear about your coop. Hope it isn't too damaged.

Congrats on the fish and the impending baby bunnies.
TO, love your comment to Jim.

otonoh, chickens eat everything. So you better make sure you don't lose consciousness in the coop or run.

Jim, resorting to dirty tactics? How shocking.

Great idea on the cracked corn. Say, are you still looking for some wheelchair tires? I might have some for you. Solid or tubes?
What a crappy day today. The weather, and the meds, made me want to take a nap all day long.

Hope tomorrow is better, for everyone.

I have 2 people interested in my Chantecler rooster. It's funny how I'm so determined to get rid of certain animals and then when someone finally wants to buy I start thinking I need to keep them. My thought today is "He gets along so well with the Iowa Blue rooster, maybe I don't need to sell him". There is something wrong with me. He's such a nice bird, he needs a good home.

Has anyone heard from Buck Creek lately? I'm looking to have my flock tested and I know she does it. Does anyone else know of somebody to do it and possibly how much it would cost?
Becky-The coturnix was named Buzz. Autumn's favorite movie at the time was Toy Story. So glad to hear they're doing good. As I suspected, Autumn thought it was pretty cool to see a pic of Cheepie. Love the new name, very fitting, lol.
No baby bunnies yet. Bummer!

Hey all, if you're around the Milwaukee area and go somewhere for processing...where do you go? I'm getting questions about that through Cream City Hens. I know of a place in Richfield that does it (Klippel's) but that's it.

Oh well. Thank you so much for the quick answer. I appreciate it.

Hey Jim, I bet your house won't be too quiet once Annie finds out about that crybaby gosling.

Hi All,
this weather sucks.. either rain OR don't.. the misting drives me nuts...
So I had a funny conversation with my mother.... She says she has a "situation" and needs to call me back later...
Well later she calls and she says, she is having issues with the "plumbing" (her's).. and she took some castor oil.. and then goes on about how I and my brother made medicine faces when she gave us the
bad tasting stuff..
I don't think I needed to know about the castor oil.. but it is kinda funny...

dkvart sounds like your DH is a must for the bash
