Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Dornes, so sorry to hear about the roof troubles. That is terribly frustrating, and not easy work. I hope you start having better luck soon. Which sounds like you are. Congrats on getting the new fuzzy butts! They are adorable. So glad they are healthy.
H&R, thank you so much for the info. I was throwing around the idea of calling the Dr. or the pharmicist, but I went to lay on the couch for a nap and didn't have the energy to get back up.

I will call tomorrow. This is ridiculous. The cure is worse than the illness. And I do eat yogurt every day, always have. It does help my stomach feel better, but not for long, unfortunately.
DrH, you better go cover your garden. It looks like you're in for a freeze, not a frost. I was under the impression we were almost to June. I hate this weather.
barnie.gif
And glad to hear TO made your day. That wasn't too hard.
gig.gif
So what were those tasty meds called so I can tell my Dr. where he can put them should I ever need them. My dad had that too, and a coworkers hubby. Glad to hear that tree was a good one.
DK, honestly? Below 80 & you had to put on a sweater? Oh, you're in for a rude awakening on the weather front.
gig.gif
It is supposed to be 31 up north. I'll have to send you a link to some heavenly longies. I'm a freezy cat too, so I am well-versed in quality longies.
big_smile.png

Awww, MLH, thank you. I hope I'm feeling better soon too. Warmer weather should be coming one of these months.
he.gif
I'm doing the mints & tons of water too, & running to the can every 20 minutes.
lol.png

Thanks for the complements too. I absolutely love that setup. It was a chicken/critter saver when we got that 2 feet of snow in one day. Didn't have to worry about digging them out, just a path to get there. But in the winter we stock them up really good with food & water just in case. It is great for any type of inclimate weather. Plenty of space for my small flock to range if they can't get outside.
I saw it (carport) in a Menards sales paper, and I immediately thought "chicken shelter"! And my wonderful DH told me to go for it!
celebrate.gif
Unfortunately, he had to assemble it completely by himself and build it over our coop, which was a challenge. But he did it! Best hubby in the world!!!!!
wee.gif

We also really like the plastic shed as a coop, but I'm not sure if it would be ok out in the open. Might get too hot in the summer unless it is shaded. We haven't noticed any ventilation problems as of yet, but we have a fan & 2 heat lamps hanging from the rafters for extreme weather. Having the coop under the carport really helps with the heat & cold. Our shed has skylights too, right under the skylights of the carport, so it gets pretty darn bright in there. So far, no complaints, from us or our opinionated animals. So far.......
A little more info than we needed, Bigz.

BBP, such adorable babies! I love them.

I think I copied it correctly! It has all the Bash info! Hope this helps you out!!

BBP-those are sure some cute duckies!! I like the buff? one!

CD-thanks for the info on the carport and shed. I was thinking of getting the shed for the winter to put inside our garage. I have a car port/ car shed that I can use but it has one side (the front) that is completely open. I could but a shed in there too. The snow has a tendency to pile in the car shed so I was thinking to put a coop in the garage where the power outlets are. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sees an object and thinks "That'd be great for chickens!" I never really see it 's true and intended purpose!

There's nothing cuter than a baby duck. And good quality call ducks stay cute forever. As you can see the 2 blue fawns I kept aren't the best quality. They're a little racy looking because of their big beaks.

So I have had to isolate my call duck drake and his white mallard GF. When they and the geese were introduced, they were separated by a pet excer-pen in a horse stall.
When we finally let them out, they got along great. NOW the geese won't stop attacking the call duck. He was limping when I let them out, and when I came back after running some errands, he was worse.
His leg is scratched up and has some small wounds, and he is missing several feathers on his wings and back.
The geese are not nesting, it started with the older female goose attacking him, last week, perhaps longer, and then the gander started to try to mate with him in the pool we have for them.

Any ideas how we can re-intergrate them? OR to make a place for them that the geese can't get to, but let them out during the day, and back into a separate stall at night?

Thanks.
Carol

Hey nonsuch, you are literally in my backyard.... I live in Wega......

welcome-byc.gif
newbies!!!!

My wonderful DH fixed the Jeep.
wee.gif
some weird electrical part that I have written down someplace but I'm too tired to look for it now..... anyway it runs! Right now he is out in the garage getting my hatcher/brooder all set to go; I have a HUGE styro shipping container from my days at cheeseland that is getting the conversion. That way I can finish my staggered hatch that I have going in the bator right now. I need it calibrated and running by Saturday since the chickens are going to be hatching this weekend.......

I would love to chat more, but I am really tired..... too much driving....

Night all!

ok seriously BL4 YOU live in Wega? thats like, not far from me. when are those calls hatching??? how old will they be by the bash? I really did NOT know you lived that close.
th.gif

wait wait wait hold everything...... I just looked on google maps, poy sippi? Wega? <------ if this is weyawega? they are not that close? unless there is a city/town named Wega? that I did not look up?
idunno.gif
ok I guess they can be concidered "close" but I have traveled New london to coloma and farther and that is a haul. granted not as far away as TO and others WAY down south.
big_smile.png
I also seen on that map, DrH is the city/town u live in through plainfield from me? I'm through plainfield a few times every summer. ANYWAYS! it's late and I'm rambling

back to what I was going to say, my DS5 is going to be Soooooo sad. I candled HIS eggs (remember the eggs (9) that he got from that farmer that we got amyables chickens from?)
hit.gif
only 3 are still in the 'bator
ep.gif
hu.gif
IDK what breed they are either, I know one is a welsummer but some were frizzle and the one egg that i KNEW was from the frizzle pen has been removed. there is almost NO development in the 6? and they are scheduled to hatch on the 3rd. this is soooo sad. thankfully I filled the 'bator with some of our eggs
big_smile.png
but I was hopeing for a frizzle
he.gif

Very Good Morning All! The sun is shining again! No signs of frost but haven't looked at the garden yet.
fl.gif
Checked all the weather I could find last night and saw mid to upper 30's. I think we're alright. Cind you gave me a chuckle this morning. Only it was just a little off. Go seepy nigh nigh is the correct way to say it!
lol.png

for your tree's ontonoh! Have a lot of blossoms on the wild blueberry plants. Yup Raim it's about 30 minutes away. Let me know if your ever over this way you HAVE to stop for a visit! Or any of you fine people, would love to see ya! bl4 glad to hear the DH got your Jeep running. I got to go mudding for the first time the other day. I went into the field next to us to check the pump situation and the dirt road was tore up, rutted, and deep. The Jeep handled it like a Jeep. WCc bad naughty bi-sexual geese!
gig.gif
CD think my brain has blocked out the name or just forgot but if someone said it I'd probably start shrieking, running around, and spitting profusely! YUP it's all part of our shared illness when you see a building of any kind the wheels start turning on how it could be adapted for chickens.

Last night I went out to put em to bed and like normal here came my buddy. He ran all the way to the back door to greet me so I went back in the house to get him a piece of watermellon that L was cutting up. He ate a little and I put it on the ground and proceeded to the coop. He came up behind me and started to make the look what I have for you noise. I turned around and he dropped a piece. He brought it all the way out to the coop to give me a piece. What a boy!

He IS his fathers son. Dornes your on the devious list too!

MLH wish I could take a break to meet you guys but the weather is cool so it's wood makin time. I don't get along with the heat, if it's over 74 it's hot! Sorry dk and other freezy cats! I'm late letting the kids out and am sure to hear about it. Buster now only behaves for one day instead of 2-3 after a lesson in manners. First rainy day that I'm in the mood he's history sadly, wish it wasn't so but I'm tired of having to watch my back in my own yard. It's Friday for you workin folk enjoy the long weekend and don't forget to remember the vets!

Good morning all--DrH--you said it! THank GOD it's Friday! My week from He// is almost over!

I thought I was looong over due for some more pics...check out this egg I got yesterday!
46457_img_0351.jpg

THe ones on the bottom are my normal sized pretty large eggs...this one is maybe a triple yolker! I first thought it was a goose egg that somehow got in the laying box...Here is a pick of one of the newest members "falling asleep on his (slightly feathered) feet" Dornes I think you mentioned this...it is funny in a brooder and even funnier (is that a word?) in the middle of the yard!
46457_img_0347.jpg

Especially if you are standing at the edge of this....
46457_img_0342.jpg

I also was going to post a pick of the blues...but somehow it loaded somewhere else and I dont have the time for looking today...sooo--
I am planning on the mill tour--thanks for the address! I sure wish I could meet you all at Culver's but I am moving clients and will shoot down from Cambridge, probably with my afternoon client in tow! She needs to get out and can sit in the car...she is interested in NOTHING so can just people watch during the tour. THen maybe we will head to Janesville--she only likes to shop....hey, maybe DKV will be here by then? (oh no--I think she said the 3rd?)
Well, Have a fantastic day everyone! I sure hope I have more time next week so I can actually comment on messages instead of merrily keeping up!
So glad you are happy with "Mascot" DrH! Terri O
