Good Honest Day's Work To All....

fordmommy, great tutorial for the hands on dusting for eliminating vermon....no need to make any of the flock suffer, when we can deal with it in a matter of minutes. You told me once that you are a fast learner, and I wondered about that? Oh my, why did i wonder? You're hatching, selling, and have been in control.

Good to hear from you!

Spent a good 6 hours in the gardens today
idunno.gif
have the mato's mulched and a ton of weeding and hoeing....lookin good!

My mato plants are spaced 4ft apart and ar touching each other. I spaced 3ft last year and decided that was way to close. I think 4ft spacing might be right.

Still trying to get the newbies out in the real world.

Hope the elderly gentleman works out for your family GC... we aren't so bad!

Evening all!

FT-I have NO idea that that machine is! I think I'd rather take a real horse for $450 and get a much better ride and a terrific companion!
I think you are seeing more then normal "Lost Dog" adds because of the Fourth. One of my neighbors lost their Beagle puppy too. The fireworks scared her and she split. I don't know if they found her yet but I never saw any adds posted at the Piggly either.

. They just caller the police and told us to call them if we found her. Kinda of odd if you ask me. I'd be wallpapering my neighborhood and the Towns on either side of mine with loads of posters.

GC-Congrats on the new pupster! He is cure a cute thing! And so is your munchkin! They look quite good together. I too was looking at cl for dogs but could not remember where you live in the wilds of wisconsin but I figured you did not want to come all the way to Janesville to see dogs! I only found a lab cross and a Pit. Not much down here. Although I did see a few horses that looked nice!

It sounds like you have a good companion for you and your kid (s).

Well, I was just checking in with y'all. Chat later!

Ok could use your advise- but first- these pics are graphic so if you are squeemish- fast forward.... I know Carol was calling some reinforcements when i asked for her opinion on this so you might have heard from her and these are pics... is this prolapsed egg maybe?

Story- this is my 19 week old EE that we were debating if it is a hen or roo. Had found a small egg in past week and not sure if it is hers? today she is uncomfortable and saw this mass- looks bloody and egg shaped on her bottom.

It definately looks like a prolapse. Wether from an egg or not it's hard to say for sure with out seeing the bird hands on. You could try to clean it and take sterile gloves and poke it back into her/his body/vent. Maybe add a stitch or two. Just like they do with sheep. Then give her a shot of Pennicillin. If she/her were mine I'd give her 3/4 cc shot of Pennicillan in the breast muscle. Bear in mind however, that if it is a prolapsed egg, then she could prolapse again. Possibly the next time she lays.
Regardless, if she were mine, I'd go ahead and give her a shot of Pennicillian if I had it on hand.

Looks like a prolapse to me. It is not an egg in there. Has it receded yet? (gone back in?) If not with very clean hands you can gently try pushing it back in. Not sure if you should use KY or What? Do a search under emergencies under prolapsed cloaca or just prolapse.
If you have any hemoroid ointment you can put that on it once it is pushed back in to help the swelling. But before you do that read up on it. I have a light brahma that has a bit of a protruding butt but it isn't that big at all and it doesn't seemt to bother her. All three of my brahmas had that??? One thing I think that can contribute to the problem is if they start to lay at to young of an age which can happen if they aren't fed the right food etc.

I'm sure more ppl will chime in as it gets dark out and they all come inside for the night. I just ate supper, now going back out for a bit.

Good luck and keep us posted. Poor baby. I"d say that is the one who started laying. Alot of pullets lay double yolkers which are considerably larger then the eggs they will normally lay. This too can cause a prolapse.

Thanks guys... I bathed her bottom in warm soapy water for 15 minutes and put petrolium jelly on her vent( at least I think I found it). No penicillin on hand as a back yard chicken gal... Put her in her own rabbit hutch for the night with some hay and a warm towel. Massaged the bottom... if there is a shell, it is a rubbery/soft shell. Just feels mushy there. Kinda freaked out to push it back in. yikes... going to check on her in a little bit. Any other tips would be great.

I have read with prolapse to put some preparation H on it & it will go back in by itself. But I would post something in the emergency section ASAP & see what they tell you.
You could also try to PM dawg53. He is a chicken guru when it comes to health problems.
Good luck to you & her!

So is that your friend or you? Nice to put a face to a name.

So you are officially a member of our Achy Breaky Tooth Achy Club then !!! Tonight was actually the first time I chewed my supper on the left side of my mouth without pain. Makes me believe the pain was coming from the small fillilng after all and not the molar that they say is dying !!!
somad.gif

Who was it that said to try excedrin Headache medicine. Just beware it has caffine in it so you will be up all night, although with a bad tooth you may be anyway !!

FT- yes that is me and my saddlebred mare X Indi.

When Kristip called I phoned Hurley but she was busy, so I called H&R who suggested jelly of some sort.. and not the Grape kind...

Another long day into the record books, ending with me making dinner and hanging laundry.
have a great night all
Carol

GC looks like you found a real nice guy for your inside dog.
smile.png

Kristip, I never saw that before sure hope you get things fixed up for her/him. I am learning right along with you on this. Really is a lot to learn and we have great teachers here
hugs.gif

As far as all these sad teeth ( I'm a dental assistant ) sure hope you all find the fix that is right for you. For pain, 2 Tylenol Ex Strength and 1 Ibuprofen. If still hurts 30 min later can add one more Ibuprofen. This can be used for up to 3 days as long as your stomach isn't bothered by it first. Yes it's so expensive to save a tooth, I don't blame you if you choose to take it out. If you do you can always get an implant ( No HaHa not that kind of implant)
lau.gif
later when you win the lottery or inherit a big amount of money. What ever you do I hope you all are pain free soon.

We took out the upper cabinets on the other side of the kitchen and will be taking out the sofit (the built in thing above the cabinets) sp? Then drywall etc............. DH will be changing elect. and changing out a window above sink. I get to paint the cabinets and refinish the hardware. Reusing most existing, new counter top and maybe just maybe
