Where are we with the get together in October? It was the 1st wasn't it? I need to know so I can arrange to make sure I have it off of both jobs.... sure hope it's still a go, although I'm sure I'll be a popsicle for it!

Chilly evening everyone, this is suzie...Brent is still on the mend. thanks for sharing all the great pics. Brent loves the sop TO.

I've had a busy couple days of canning too...did 20 pints of salsa..yum...6 qts stewed tomatoes yesterday, then today went to a neighbor farmer and bought 10 dozen cobs of corn for$ 2.75 a dozen and froze 27 1 lb bags and left out 3 dozen for fresh eating. Yup these are the best tomatoes we grew too!!! Must be the year for tomatoes! We still have 50 ft. rows of carrots, beets and onions.And 7 50 ft rows of spuds to dig yet

Pluss winter squash!! And we have 12 plants with green tomatoes yet to ripen so I hope we don't get frozen out!

The corn on the grill tonite was delish!

Brent said he would do your pasture TO, but his 8n is dead by the shed yet!

Happy belated birthday Jim and Cind. Hope they were great!

We can smell the smoke here too. The fire has consumed 100 thousand acres so far.

Hi Suzie,, you word things just like Brent does, You must be married a long time.. LOL

You could have used your money for gas and drove a long time and came here for free corn.. and a beer or two.. that long drive is the blocker, eh?

I will be doing a 200 mile rounder tomorrow to pick up three peafowl.. I hope my old beater makes it without any problems..
I would ask my brother to drive me in his minivan, but his bride would not allow three pet carriers near their car.. LOL

I thought you fixed that Ford.. ?? don't make me come there and do it..

Brent sure will do anything to get out of canning, eh?

I thought I had a lot of potatoes, but you have me beat I think..
and you do have me beat with the beets..
a friend is bringing his ginsing digger over to dig my potatoes for me.. Only one row, 300 ft long.. last year I had two rows, but we don't need 800 pounds of potatoes.

I can never convince Annie to just leave those tiny ones lay.. I am surprised as heII that she is willing to let the extra tomatoes go..

Gotta ask what is SOP ? I didn't see anything on the coffee table that I can think of that would stand for SOP ?

Couldn't finish the second bowl of soup, so unlike me. I'm stuffed. Guess it was more filling then I thought it would be.
Now I dont' want to see another bowl of soup for a long time. That will probably change by midnight !!!

Jim I think you should name one of your chickens Cookoo !!! The one that doesn't want to listen and come when called !!!

You guys are funny! I think me and Brent shouldnt tell you for a while just so we can have the fun of you guessing...

No...it stands for The Standard of Perfection...not for my house...for chickens! (of course) Brent had one with a messed up binding so he gave it to me and I got it repaired and now it stays on my coffee table...it was right under the copy of "low fat Italian Cooking" that I have yet to make a recipe out of...but it was only a buck at St Vinnies....

So dinner was most excellent! Very colorful adn I can tell you now that winter squash is just as good before the frost as after...and the brussels sprouts too. But maybe they were so good just because we havent had them for nearly a year? Guess more testing is in order!

I can just picture you FT: open the door, yell "CUCKOO, CUCKOO!" and then close the door...just like the little bird in my clock!

Yup...we can chuckle about that one for a while! I think I may have narrowed down the salsa recipes...Hey Susie...how about you post yours too? Please? I am going to make the one I think it was tomorrow sometime and then I will post it. I didnt find the one for canning yet...

OK--gonna read my book for a while. THis cool weather sure makes me want to sleep!
One more thing! The Southern Bash is going to be on Oct 1st as far as I know...I dont know if MLH ever said where exactly though...

DkVart1 Those puppies are adorable.

I feel so sorry for those puppies at the stores. Don't want to start anything here but I have to ask. Do you think they come from a good source ?
I just remember hearing about all of the puppy mill puppies being sold at the stores and for a good price as well.

IMO

The paint on the far right is actually a spotted draft but doesn't have the draft build at all. That is DH ET's horse. I love the drafty ones. They say Ride a Draft-It make your butt look smaller !!!! That's why I finally got the big Belgian !!!
