Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I don't have a TV and besides, what is so fun about grown men chasing a ball? Ever think about it for a moment? Most sports in the world, someone is chasing something...soccer, lacrosse, golf, racing, baseball. If you grease a pig, I'm sure its far more fun to actually be doing it than sitting around a tube being lazy watching men behave like children

and yeah I know, I'm asking for it, but eh, bring it on

I make 2,000 bars of soap from December through April. Then sell it of course and its farm soap with a few beauty bars thrown in

I do have a radio, but that's off as I can only handle just so much Christmas music before I start losing my marbles and I have few marbles left

So hoping for some good advice from all of you..there was a posting on here for a Lavander Orpington chick-has a crooked beak and the listing said free-local only otherwise they will put it down. The beak doesnt look that crooked, and Im only in this for pets and hopefully eggs. They wrote back that noone locally wants it so they are willing to ship it and can include up to 2 others for warmth. THe chick is 4 weeks old. With the weather suppossed to be really cold then next 10 days etc.... Am I letting my heart rule common sense? I dont want to end up with more roos either-already have 3-possibly 4 roos and 11 or 12 hens (Still waiting to find out) that were raised together and hoping that come spring hell doenst break loose with the boys becoming hormonal.
ARGH! I almost wish I hadnt asked about the potential of shipping this lil one as now I really want to do this...any advice? Can you ship at this age safely with current weather? The chick is coming from GA..

Good evening! That is a hard one AngieB! At 4 weeks I would think they would be warm enough with a few buddies...but there are other people in that state that said they would want it. If you are just going for eggs OK--but what if it passes that gene to babies of yours? Now, I dont know if that kind of thing is hereditary or not...just something to think about for you. Also how much would it cost to get it up here...and probably the "packing peanuts" will be roos...

Yes the Pack sure did win...and I didnt watch! They won just the same...maybe it is better? My friend that I stopped at to have her audit my 4H books was saying it was exciting. The grocery store was GREAT cause I think I was the only one there! And I still got the weekend specials too. Tatters--I like the idea of no TV--I for one would not miss it at all! Now that we have this HUGE one in my LR I am already thinking of ways to arrange around it...the LR is getting smaller tomorrow. Maybe I will stick DH in the corner with the TV! The whole thing gives me a headache.

THe 4H charter is IN!!! Yeah!

I am glad that is over...I put a line item in the check book that says: a New Leaf has Turned Over. So I am hoping to keep it more accurate this year. I hate not having a regular treasurer...most of our kids are just too young and the ones that are old enough are president, VP and secretary!

Well I suppose I oughta be getting to bed. Not one of those late night folks for sure! The turkey was back up in the same place tonight along with various chickens that dont care for the coop and 13 guinea hens that LOVE the trees. The funny thing is that in the morning when I open the coops the guineas and the turkeys go inside and eat and roost...crazy birds!

Good night all! Sweet dreams...Terri O

Sorry Terri--I must have been reading too fast. I had just stopped in in between child wrangling and tree erecting and gingerbread baking....it's what I get I suppose.

Thanks for all of the tips, everyone, and I'm sorry to hear about the illnesses. It's supposed to cool down pretty quickly this week, good luck and keep warm!
