Just wait til you see one of those peeps looking out from behind mom's wing CC...you're gonna die!
I hope she is a good mom for you too! Sometimes they lose the first peep before they realize what's up...I hope you get lucky and have only live ones! Even if they lose the first one, it doesn't mean she still won't turn out a great mom. Kinda live and learn for them too.
Yep, the frozen eggs that have a crack in them aren't good for human consuption because of the chance of bacteria entering into the egg. I bring them in and scramble them for the girls (none so far this winter). I'm retired and have time for the extra stuff.
Nice pics TO...glad you figured it out before YOU had a bird...
bigz
You got that right Bigz !!! There is nothing cutier
then a chick peeking out from under Mama's wings !!! Well, maybe a chick peeking out from under DrHa's Robe !!!
I can't wait to see picks of your chicks, everyones chicks for that matter !!
I had a surprise this morning in my bator. Turner still going. I heard this loud Peeping from across the living room. Went to see expecting to see a chick out walking about. There was a turken chick sitting in his shell with the top of the shell off. Cutier then a button !!! Put him in the hatcher incubator all by himself Went and did all my errands (again today) and came home to find he had gotten under the wire !!!
So I put him in with the week olds. Gonna go check on him now ! Little black and white turken chicks. Should turn out barred. Hopefully it will be a hen. I only have barred hens so
Brought the truck in today to get the oil changed. All went well untile they checked our transmission fluid and found out it was a quart low and it smelt burnt. End result we need to have the transmission filter and fluid changed to the tune of $150. He said because we haul the hay etc it is working it hard. Or something like that.
So have to find that money. I sure don't want to replace the transmission. We already did that 5 yrs ago !!!
The owner of the garage has a trailer he will borrow us so I can get my '85 Nissan 300zx up here from Racine. That is my baby. It only has 50k miles on it. That way I won't have to drive it. Plus I have my Dad's Van I would like to get up here. I didn't want to sell it down there to any scum, I think givent he circumstances it should be driven up here where his spirit is. He always wanted to retire up here.
Dropped off the trailer tire rim to get replaced $110+ !!! I told DH to work all the overtime he can. I'm spending it faster then he can make it these days !!
Went to pick out a baby gift for a shower I have to go to on Sunday. That took forever !!! Harder then heck to look at the registery and then find the item !!
It turns out I was in Shopko so long I had 5 min to get to the tire place, they closed at 5pm so I called and said I would come tomorrow. The guy (the manager) was nice enough to wait for me since he said he would be there anyway !!!! TG !!! Saved me another trip !!
Then to Dollar General to buy wrapping paper, card and a shoe box to raise my mealworms in. TO what are you feeding your mealworms?? Any tips for raising them. I read all of the posts on here but don't remember Jack poop of what I've read !!!
Then to
Walmart to pick up a few things, snaps for one so I can make chicken diapers with snaps vs velcro. So now I have all of the supplies, material to make them, just need to clean off the table top, pull out the sewing machine and get to it !!!!
Don't remember what else I was gonna say. Glad Jimbo will be back, now we better quit talking about him !! LOL
Oh I know, speaking of Jim reminded me, when I went to water the Peafowl today there is a dead mouse in the middle of their coop. I think one of them killed it !!! Good Birdies, poor mousey !!! One down who knows how many to go !!!
Ok, might be back later, might not. Oh and speaking of later, Cind when you read this, maybe if you have any Corrid you could treat that chicken for Cocci. Give it some yogurt or lactobacillus. Could be a gut issue. Wouldn't hurt to try. Tiki lost some adult birds from cocci this year. She found out through the necropsy that that is what took them.
