Guess I should have caught up reading before I posted! LOL

Barred rock Roo anyone?... Free! I think there will be BO too. I'll look at them tomorrow.

Those 2 ducklings are so cute! And good luck with hatching those eggs. I cant wait until more of my eggs hatch. I've got 2 ducks on nests with call eggs and 2 chickens on call duck eggs and i have 7 in the incubator.

Waiting for Jim to post puppy pics too... Oh and carol to candle .... Yes I am impatient.

As a side note, of the 7 chicks that are 2 weeks old in my study ... Only 1 is large fowl... A blue Andalusian.... And I am pretty sure it Ida roo.. Argh. Oh well kids really wanted more bantams...

So I decided that my outdoor brooder is going to be 2'x2'x4'. That should be big enough for the first 6 weeks for up to 6 chicks. Now to figure out how I want to heat it and regulate the temperature in there.

It will have a pull out bottom so I don't have to scoop poop, it will just be a dump and go. The whole thing will be 1x4s and plywood. The base will be pressure treated, cause I have a piece of that sitting here, with two handles to pull it out. I am also going to build a feeder/waterer base that can't be pushed around by the birdies.

So the questions are: How to regulate heat, am I right on the size, how much ventilation do I need, does this sound cool or what?

Any thoughts/advice Jim? (or anyone else)

Prayers, Congrats and Blessings to All for their Lives,

KEN

Glad the sun showed up today....now all we need is more heat like we had earlier this spring.

Good luck with the hatches....

Ken... To me that sounds good. Mine is going to be similar sized... Plastic kids pool, with xpen fence around it, with deer fence on top. Heat lamp going int tomorrow with tarp over half to see if temps will hold well. Wood Chips are in, hoping heat is ok

Jim, you torture us!!!

Ken, the size sounds adequate. I'd keep a heatlamp on one side, down close to the chicks, as the nights are pretty cool yet. Then if it's too warm they can scoot away to the other end.

SH!T!!! I have the plague! No lie! I am in jeopardy of losing all my Wheatens!!!

I had one chick Die last week. Lethargic, stumbling, laying sideways, stretching out neck and legs, labored breathing at times. Some symptoms like coccidiosis. BUT no bloody stool.

I had one die today. I just found another not looking good. I'm going out there in an hour because I suspect there's more! They are being put in the basement away from the others. But I can't save these guys whe they start going down like this! I'm frwaking out!

I have sulmet and Sav a chik in the waterer in the brooder, but they are coming down with this fast. I have syringe fed the same combo to the sick ones in isolation, but it does no good. I'm going to Walgreens quick and see if i can find polyvysol. ***?!?!

Help!!!!
