BBP, what ducks are you getting rid of?????

Earthy, all ducks need is a water source deep enough to clear their nostrils. They do not need to have pools or rivers and the like... but they are SO much more fun to watch when they can swim!

good sunday AM .

I forgot what I wrote last time so some of this might be repeat..

Annie found a Peahen nest.. stole 4 eggs which are sitting right in front of me waiting to go into the bater.. Set 50 guinea eggs last night.. and 40 chicken eggs.. Turned the barocks loose . I gave up on the idea of having flocks of pullets to sell.. (with my present rooster)..

am still working on my shop, trying to install the 5 drawers.. those expensive drawer glides are for sh!t.. they are going back to maynard's and I am getting some of the cheap'o ones that I know will work.. I spent two whole afternoons trying to tweak the d@mned things .. they just keep jumping out of the track when the drawer is pulled to full extension..I

I have one late hatch in the hatcher cheaping like crazy.. I imagine he is hungry..

the neighbor came and spread a nice thick layer of manure on my garden.. then he even dumped about a yard sized pile at the end of the garden for individual plant mulching.. I have such good neighbors.. as soon as he comes back and discs the garden, I will plant taters..

Annie ordered $80.oo worth of seeds from Jung.. supposed to deliver this week.. Now she doesn't want me to use my own seed potatoes . she wants to order them from the guy in St. Point who I usually get them from.. He has really nice seed.. they are generally quite large, but we can always cook the ones we don't plant..

Nora is staying away from her pups for a few times each day.. Right at the moment, they look like baby piglets.. and they are really growing..

cuppa is cold,, I better go out and see how Annie has sabotaged the flock today..

the owl/fox/hawk? had another breakfast of guinea this morning.. Oh well, I have a month's supply out there for them,, then the new flock should be hatching..

later.. jiminwisc

Morning All!

Everyone here is doing good!

Emster is much better! He's about 75% I'd say. He still won't eat him kibble but at least I not longer have to spoon feed him his canned food! His second blood work came back and the CBC was normal and his Chem panel is normal. The liver enzymes are back to normal so Dr.D though that what ever happened has begun ti be resolved with the AB's and his system responding to treatment. We still won't know about the Lepto titters until middle to end of next this week.

WCc-I'm sure you've already gone but Dh was/is at the booth. They sent him on an errand to get more paper for the hay tester machine and to get back to the Fair he was in traffic for 2 hours to go 3 miles and he had a 25 minute walk from the parking lot to the booth! He then left to go to an event to support Mad City Chickens. They were one of many organizations at the Re-Store in Madison.
That is very sweet that you and your DH showed each other cards when you could not afford it. I bet that memory is a special one!

FT &EL-I got married at The Wee Kirk of the Heather wedding chapel. It is the second oldest wedding chapel in Vegas behind the Hitching Post. I think the Hitching Post is no more though. DH wanted to have Elvis marry us, much to my dismay! Luckily, the minister there told him that "Elvis can't marry you since he is not an Ordained Minister. But for an additional $50 he can be a guest at your wedding......" I said no..... We always joke the we'll get our vows renewed by Elvis...I wanted Captain Kirk or Captain Picard or maybe a Klingon to renew or vows, but that will be almost impossible since the Star Trek Experience is no longer there....*sigh*
We had a reception at out local park for family and friends. We had that a few weeks later in May. I can't remember that date for the life of me though! It was farm themed and we had a ball! We had our dear friend Steven the Cajun cater it. He has the best Cajun food in So cal in my opinion and guests loved it!

Congrats to everyone hatching!!! I'm waiting on some more quail to hatch....day 22 for them...

Well, I have chores to do...Later Gators

Good morning (still)--just read all 48 posts that I missed from the last time I was on--one day ago! Can always tell when hatching is going on! So if your eggs are hatching then it must be time for me to remove the turner in bator #1 (now I sound like Jim!) because I set a bit later due to temp fluctuations. You all will be done ans I will just be getting started...hopefully that will continue the baby pics a while longer for everyone to enjoy.
Last night when I got home from the MWHF I went to lock up and was able to snag another baby goose to add to the one inside. If I am going to have one I might as well have another so they have a pal when they go out...I didnt want a goose thinking he was a guinea...had guineas thinking they were turkeys last year! That was weird enough. Took a long time for them to get accepted into the guinea flock too...and now two more were hit by cars...the score from the beginning of the year is owls: 3; cars: 3; natural: 0. HMMMM....

My head is spinning after reading all you had to offer...I will just say congrats, sorry and I hope it goes better next time! I think that might cover all.
DrH--is that fart egg from one of the babies from my eggs? Man, I sure hope they do better than that! LOL!
NXM--your coop does look similar to the other one with the chicken painting on it (sorry, cant remember who's it is) I bet your wheel design will work for them too...please post pics soon--I want to see too!
Nice turkey...dont know if I could actually shoot one...same with deer. Now a raccoon in my coop--NO PROBLEM!

OK gotta eat something, I think the coffee is eating through my gut! Oh yeah Bigfam...my daughter is at the game today too! I hope they are warm enough. Terri O

Here's my orpington: The only one that has hatched this color. Ok BBP .... I give... What color were you trying for with this chick? I might need to ask you questions since my eggs are hatching with week and you already have some.
Its from my porcelain project. I only have one rooster in that pen and he's lavender carrying the mottled gene. And I dont know what hen was involved. I'll have to keep it to cross with a lavender to see what I get. I also got a beautiful isabel laced chick out of that batch. I'll post pictures when they're older.

Oh cool! I will post pics for you to critique when mine hatch! I don't know anything about what I have hatching, just thought they sounded different! I'm willing to pass some along to you if I end up having something you're interested in... But I'm not a chicken enabler... I'm just a person with a KIND heart... Really... It's true... ;)
