Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

In the predators section in a sticky it says the night guard doesn't work. But everyone has their own opinion I guess. Fresh meat as in freshly bought? or freshly killed? LOL I think Skovys are good mysquito predators. Marigolds, mint, and pyrethrimim can be planted and rubbed on the skin. They are all perennials. I buy the yellow wrist bands at family dollar but if you are out in the woods which I suspect you are I don't think anything will work but DEET. ((and maybe a few skovys too) LOL

ps I don't think you are supposed to use DEET on children though.

we got a nice rain out of this storm.. I watched it slide by to the North of us.. it is still raining here.

checked my records.. have 49 guineas due today.. so far about a dozen are in the TV..I had a call from a guy .. he wants to come tomorrow and look at the pups..

Annie and I couldn't get together to relocate the chicks today.. will try to do it tomorrow..

got a white egg from that leghorn.. it looks extra white next to all the brown ones..
Glad to know she is earning her keep for you Jim!

I knew I would have some eggs that were due to hatch under some hens sharing a space.
Well I have one hatched out so far, the odd thing is the chick is yellow!!.. not that cute yellowish white..
But yellow.. So this one will be interesting to see when it starts to feather out.

So Bl4, what kind of tractor did your DH buy??????? Inquiring minds, ya know.

Oh, nevermind. Sorry to hear about your co-worker's BF. I hope he'll be ok.

Jim,

on the ok from Annie on the rebuild. You can never go wrong with a well-running tractor.

I want a bash do-over.

And personally, I wouldn't fog around my chickens, but that's just me. I know, you need more chickens!

Carol, Kristi and Raim, I hope you are all feeling better soon, like yesterday.

Pain has got to be the biggest PITA.

Apyl, hope Shifu gets integrated soon. As for the skeeters, I have a button down shirt & a pair of pants that I spray down with repellant that I wear just for working outside when it's buggy, then hang it up until the next time I need it.

TO, all your kids are home. Get out the cleaver and tell them to go unload that load of hay!

Unk, my first question would be that that lady should have known there were wolves in the area? And she should have done her research on how to keep her animals safe prior to getting said animals. Then again, if she didn't hear the ruckus from the animals then she might not have heard the wolves howling night after night.

Poor critters.

I agree that we really need the rains to head east for awhile. The ground is so hard down around here too. At least that's my excuse for not weeding as much as I should.

It was pretty warm today but the winds sure helped keep it more bearable than it could have been. The chickies looked pretty warm on the camera tonight, so I went out at 9:30 to hook up another fan in the coop. It looks like it helped. Come on, cold front. We need rain! Other than that, I got nothing. So sweet dreams, all!

Hot and sticky with no sign of the rain

I have screens wedged in the coop doors but they aren't that secure... got to make some good wire doors soon! Just hoping 3 ameracauna roosters and 3 guinea roosters are enough to take on anything that might get in. Still worry.

Stay cool... night all!

Happy Towel Day!!!

Happy Friday!!!

This week has been He!! week (Memorial Day is to Monument makers like Christmas is to Walmart)- Looking forward to the long weekend.

I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing Memorial Day weekend. Take a moment to think about those brave souls, past and present, who gave the ultimate sacrifice to secure our Nation's freedom...

Laters...

CC,my DH picked up a 1949 AC WD; appx. 95% original. He is like a kid at Christmas so how could I possibly say no?

So when I get my horse I better not hear ONE FREAKIN' WORD!

I hope my co-worker is doing well too. She really needs to get rid of this loser BF, and I have a feeling that is what she said to him that night. Jerk.

Hoping today is event FREE!

Morning all!
Just got all caught up. To many posts for me to reply to except the one Dan posted abut the lady losing her stock. How sad...maybe she was gone? and she came home after the fact? Those goats would have screamed their heads off. I wonder if it was wolves or a neighbors dog or a pack of dogs? I'll admit, I don't know much about wolves except what I've seen on the nature shows and a few other factoids. Dogs however will kill for sport.

Well, no rain here....to hot and windy to do much yesterday. I did go with DH to the Cargill plant in Milton for another tour. This time with some kids with the Midwest Poultry Consortium. Very nice group if kids. After the mill tour, we got a chance to take a tour of MacFarlane Pheasants. Very nice operation. They have some very beautiful birds. I fell in love with the Melanistic Mutant pheasants. They are really stunning.

Well I've got to go take care of the critters before I have to take Tootsie in to the vet for her yearly check up.

Good cool morning! I had to close my window a bit here by my chair--I was getting the goosebumps! 90 here yesterday...perfect hay unloading weather and guess what? When I got home from the 4H meeting it was done!
celebrate.gif
DS said I had to bring home dinner so I got subs...I wasnt sure how many people there were cause no one was answering their phones or texts...I guess DH put the screws to the kids.

Freaken amazed me for sure! I have not been up to the mow yet to see how it is stacked....hopefullly OK so we can go up and up with it!
We all sat out on the picnic bench while they ate and actually talked a bit. THe weather was very nice by then but still windy...we had about 6 drops of rain at about 10 pm. I do think it rained some during the night as sthe steps look a bit wet. Dont think we got nearly the amount needed though.

Spent a good amout of time with DD20 and her BF doctoring her horse that just got shod. Seems the wire that I saw got caught up on his foot....hmmm--I think I typed this already...well we got it cleaned and bandaged anyhow...and my OM is not much of a man...he doesnt have ANY duct tape! We needed some to keep the vet wrap from riding up....

Cooking again today so I just called my Mom to make sure how I make the "Rosy Beef Noodle Casserole." She doesnt remember...
he.gif
the secretary put it down as roast beef noodle! They will be surprised when it is hamburger I guess....OK gotta go and find out how to stabilize whipped cream....have a great day everyone! Enjoy the cool temps....Terri o
