Beautiful up here this morning!

(supposed to not get the rain until late today)
Got enough rain so I don't have to water anything! Hard to believe but when the storms rolled thru Thursday w/high winds and all no damage to the gardens, not even a broken tomato. Have left over space in one of the gardens so I have sent hubby out to the field to dig up some "leftovers' from last year's potato planting that are now popping up with new plants. Wasn't going to do any spuds this year but I am not one to turn down a free gift!

sorry to hear so many are not having a great weekend

. Hope we are all able to stop for a minute this weekend and count the blessings we all have given to us by those who gave all (and their families) so we can enjoy the freedoms we have!

Yep! I am an unashamed flag waving (got them all out waving this weekend) America loving, patriot who tries to remember every day to thank the Lord for choosing to grant me the privilege to be born and live in in this wonderful place. With all it's flaws and struggles and imperfections, "We the people" are still the greatest people, in the greatest land on earth.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Lots of rain here this morning. We had breakfast on the farm this morning but can't make it with all the rain... No way we can park in the mud. Going out to breakfast with family since it is y bday weekend.

Well good news... Carol said that one of my four silkie eggs in the incubator is fertile... Means that silver surfer is doing his job. Yeah!!! More going in now that I know they are good. Wonder who they came from. At least I will be able to tell... He likes te white and the black silkie girls so babies should tell me! Have a good day, stay dry, thunder boomers here all morning

good morning.. might as well tell my tale of woe..I found 14 dead chicks in the guinea coop this AM.. they packed themselves into the feeder and the bottom ones suffocated.. except the very bottom one.. it's head was in the tray and it is fine.. I will make a cover for the feeder .. I had one, but it got lost in the constant shuffle..

I also have to switch to the metal hanging waterer.. those chicks just keep filling the plastic one with wood chips...

Nora was down at the neighbor's house, barking her head off.. I presume at their horse.. she was raised around lots of horses, what a dork.. I whistled once, and she came right home..
the guy who called about the puppy never showed up.. big surprise, eh?

Not raining here.. looks like it might.. I will try to get the plants into the garden.. even the peppers are starting to blossom..

cuppa should be done brewing,, then off to see what the rest of the day is going to do to me..

Anyone have the new book "Free Range Chicken Gardens:How to create a beautiful, chicken-friendly yard"?
Just came out in January. Our library doesn't have it and the two that do won't let me check it out,

Sooo, if anyone has it, or seen it and thinks it's any good I am going to just buy it from Amazon.

We had thunder and lighting for several hours this early morning, it just cleared up. I was hoping to weed at a neighbors but she says its too muddy...
We have two chicks hatched out that are under broody hens. I need to check today to see what else has hatched out.
I expect some in the bator to hatch today or tomorrow, as its day 20 for a lot of them.
Good odds this time.
We had to "escapees" in the brooder room from their totes. I think its time to start moving some out soon... they are only 5 weeks old though...
So I need to find a place to put the kiddie pool and heat lamps.

I may have a job with company that teaches english to korean students using teleconferencing.. I called on it yesterday morning, and had an interview late afternoon
yesterday. The owner is a martial arts instructor, and a lawyer so I truly think this is on the up and up.
20 hours a week in the early mornings, so it leaves the rest of the day open!!
He said he would call me this morning, but he hadn't called by 10 so I called him, and he said the job was mine!!
I looked him up in CCAP and the company, and on the internet, and he is clean.
So lets hope this works!
I think I impressed him by saying "good morning" in Korean to him, and then when I couldn't find his office.. which was hiding in his Dojo.. you would think he might
mention that it was IN a dojo.. LOL.. I said "hello" in Korean. to him. I have known how to say that since 7th grade when I learned a little Korean in order to talk to a class mate.
I speak a little japanese and spanish so I think that helps.
Have a great one, have fun planting stuff.
I now have to go feed things to other things!!!

my lil brother stepped on one of the baby calls feet. It wont walk, the middle toe is bent at an awkward angle and the ankle is swollen... Anything we can do or do we have to put it down?

Good afternoon! (just) I had to dry off the horses in the back that dont have a shelter this morning. They were shivering like mad! Poor Commander, he could hardly walk! Poor boys....we got the dry and blanketed and then the rain stopped and the sun has come out. Fed everyone up...didnt have to water the outside stuff...enough water lying about for sure!

The potatoes waiting in the wheel barrow to be planted got put away the night it was SUPPOSED to rain but left out last night! I drained them off this morning and am going to try and get them in the ground today...the sun is starting to shine pretty well so I guess I better get my butt out there. DOnt want them to rot!

Sorry to hear of your troubles Cind...tough night for sure! Amazing that all that stuff has to happen at once hey? I hate days/nights like that!
Sounds like someone new might be incubating scads of eggs! I say Go for it!
OK--on my way out now! Happy Memorial Day to all...we have such a nice celebration in our town on Monday...cool gun salute in the cemetery too. We always go down to hear the speaker and band and walk in the procession to the graveyard. It is a nice time and way to say thanks to the vets!
Have a great one! Terri O

Good mornign. I am crossing my fingers the sun comes out.

The weekenders across the street arrived last night, and the morons were revving dirt bikes or 4-wheelers up at 3am and racing them up and down the road in front of the house. UGH. They had the dog barking like crazy. So today I'm tired and crabby, go figure. We wanted to go fishing but of course its raining. I also wanted to have a fire this weekend but the wood never got covered. So looks like we're gonna have a boring day here. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Oh and I have 11 days until 4 more day old chicks come and I wanted to have Shifu out in the coop by this weekend but of course the Red ( 5 of them) are still trying to attack her when I turn my back. So looks like she'll be staying in the house a bit longer.

BL4 - Sorry your duck is hurt, I have no clue how to fix it.
