Don'tcha love how in the US of A you can't do this, that, or the other thing on your own doggone property?! Hades hath no fury like a woman deprived of her ducks. Are you really thinking of getting rid of all of them?

I feel I need to explain about BigFam's rundown: This week I ordered diapers online, a jumbo box of regular dipes and a single pack of swim dipes. For Cartman of course. When the order came, in addition to the reg dipes, they had sent me 6 boxes of swim pants!! 144 of them! We'd have to swim everyday until Christmas to use them all up!

BigFam, if you really think Pickles will fit in size 2-3, gimme your addy.

TO, I need to get my fair entry form in by next Sunday. Of course, the fair has to be the same weekend as Taking the Reins. Julie and I were thinking maybe come down Fri and go home Sat afternoon? Are we still on to camp out with you?

ok Chicken talk, I have a 6-8 week old chicken WITHOUT a tail! no tail feathers cause there is NO tail as in the fleshy triangular piece of non edible (in my book) piece of bone and meat on the rump lol what the heck/ how the heck/ where the heck did that mutation come from? all the rest of my birds have tails? it looks so funny.

Well I woke up to a surprise, I have two of KristiP's eggs in my bator, and I hear a frantic cheeping.. I think I forgot to put them on the side of the turner and this poor chick was in the turner, just pipped... I opened up the opening up a little and set it and the other egg in the little space between the turner and the side of the bator..
It went from small hole to hatched in about half an hour maybe....
I got the brooder set up, a small tank (chick type t.v.) and will move it up once the temps are up.
My dogs were trying to figure out where the cheeping was coming from.
I just moved the older chicks out last week, so now we have a single chick.
THis one looks to be a blue silkie, I see a bit of silver on its back.
I think Kristi will be happy!!
I hope you can get a variance BL4!!

Hey all!! Glad the weather is nicer.... My computer was on strike for a while in the real hot weather....

Bl4 that is so sad. Sorry for your troubles. I know what you mean about nobody bothering to ticket neighbors for their other violations. Argh!!! They were real pains in the ;;you kniow where,,,Dogs yappin all day and night,,,,loud parties day and night, race car engines revving,,,,,etc,,,,, I been there,,, which led me to rent this place in the country,,,,not knowing my landlady was so ......%#........!!!!


Bf4m thanks for the summary. LOL Nice to hear you got a marans hatched TO. Meatloaf on the grill sounds interesting. At least it keeps the house cooler. I wonder about baking cookies on the grill?

BabyLady: I jsut caught up on your situation-I am so sorry and that totally sux. I would think if you have a copy of the ordinance you had originally, you should be able to use that along with letters from neighbors showing they are NOT a nuisance!!! Keep me posted on how things go.

Im happy to see that it looks like everyones chicks made it through the hot weather. I set up a fan and gave out watermelon and they semed to make it through !!!!

Good early evening! Got one of those mink cages finally finished so I can use it as a transport for my fair birds. Myhand is really sore from squeezing the ringing pliers. Not as bad as when I hoed the potatoes--but close
.I went down and peeked in the incubator window...a few more marans and I did see one blue egg had hatched! The babies were still looking damp so I figured I could wait some to take them out to join the 3 now in the TV. Yes there were 2 more when I went down this morning.
Tommy's bath went well...he had no mites so I was glad about that! The Sevin must have worked!

I only hope that the other birds are as clean!

As soon as the kids get back from the beach we are heading back to the fair to do more setting up. The poultry superintendent told me that the fair missed a few tags (that's why I couldnt find one set of my cages) and she needed to add 14 cages and work all of them into the order! Nothing like having to do it all over again! That means that my dishes and stuff will need to be re-secured in my 14 cages...she was all worried about it! I told her no big deal; it's too hot to get your undies in a bundle about such a little thing! I did feel bad that she had to do all the work over though....

Alrighty--I a now going to make some awesome cage tags for my birds...I used to hate it when I wanted to know the kind of bird it was and all the tags say is the class...people will KNOW what kind mine are! LOL!

Evening To All....that really sucks bl4...what a pile of crud...hope you get it figured out the right way and continue having calls in Wega.

Something got into my spuds last night....digging up the plants and eating the new spuds....prolly ruined 12 plants for sure.....thinking spotted skunk or coons......me and suzie placed a couple 150 rolls of 2' chicken wire around the garden....I have the trail cam set, and the war is on....I grow really nice spuds. I don't have a single potato beetle, and they are truly nice plants...It's been alot of work getting them to this point.....never ever had this prob before, and I'm old as dirt!

Yep, was a little stinky this week....nice to have a break in the weather....fleet was sold out of AC when we went to town....imagine that, as luck would have it.

good evening, I took a long nap this afternoon.. really needed it.. Annie informed me that it rained hard while I was asleep..

I went to an auction from heII this morning.. 1 1/2 mile walk in, just to get there..I hitched a ride about 1/2 way in.. I wanted to bid on a chicken plucker and a scalder.. they were gone by the time I got there.. so I didn't hang around.. I hitched a ride all the way back to my car..

$200 bucks for THAT incubator ?? No way.. I would not give more than $25.oo as it is.. no turner, no fan visible.. Personally I wouldn't buy it.. (maybe I would for parts)..

the guineas are about done hatching.. 40 to 50 is my estimate.. I quit counting at about 30.. 3 turkeys.. 2 chickens.. will have to call Marlene to pick them up..

Annie is going to order some Purple guinea eggs.. she always wanted that color.. I bought her a pair a couple of years ago, they promptly went out onto the road and were both hit by a car..

Brent, I want to pick your brain about the stump grinder.. how long does it take to do say,,,a 12 inch pine stump at about ground level ? I have 7 or 8 birch stumps and the maple stump to do. and my nephew had a 50 inch red oak that sticks above the ground about 20 inches.. I will have 2 or 3 strong helpers if I need them.. PM me or call me , OK ?

I got the tiller running again, and was going to hill the potatoes tonight , but the rain made that job a no-go..

Annie picked aenough raspberries to make a raw berry pie.. corn flake crust, with raw berries dumped in and topped with whipped cream.. so much for the semi-diet I am on.. I can always restart it after pie season.. just in time for blackberry pie season, shich runs almost into fresh apple pie season.. NOW do you know why I am a bit overweight ?

Annie walked her leg into a roll of wire today.. got a long scratch.. They will have to do a good job of air-brushing if she ever poses for Playboy mag...

looks to be a cool night for sleeping.. Yeah, sure, now that I have my bedroom window blocked with that AC unit.. If the yard was not covered with an assortment of bird sh!t, I would move outside for the night.. I love sleeping under the stars.. that's stars CC, not stairs..why do you have to be so difficult ?

geeze, for a quick note, this has sure ran long..
