Hot & Dry in Wisconsin!

IT'S SO HOT in Wisconsin.....the birds have to use potholders to pull the worms out of the ground.
.....the trees are whistling for the dogs.
.....the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance
.....hot water comes from both taps.
.....you can make sun tea instantly.
.....you learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
.....the temperature drops below 90 F and you feel a little chilly.
.....you discover that in June it only takes two fingers to steer your car.
.....you discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
.....you actually burn your hand opening the car door.
.....you break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 A.M.
.....your biggest motorcycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death"?
.....you realize that asphalt has a liquid stage.
.....the potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter.
.....the cows are giving evaporated milk.
.....farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
IT'S SO DRY IN Wisconsin that the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians are giving rain checks, and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water!

Hi all!

Welcome Suki'smom!

For those who want to read about the "chicken ID" things vicki was talking about...http://times247.com/articles/88feds-foist-chicken-id-on-frustrated-farmers6 Dumb dumb... but feds. aren't farmers
hmm.png

vicki... broodys will "hold it" as long as they can anyway, she would have eventually gotten up and gone poop as far from the nest as she could. Hope it worked to break her brood!

BBP... THE MASKED DUO! lol She looks like a decent mare.... hope all goes well!

bl4.... congrats on the new "toy"!

Das... cute! and getting scary true!

Well, getting tired... too tired to respond more, sorry. Got another "sneeze" worth of dampness here and just enough cloud cover to not see any northern lights
hmm.png
Almost had a home for another kitten. They got him home and their son was petting it and got a severe allergic reaction. poor kid! They felt real bad about having to bring it back.

Hope those that are too wet, stay dry and those of us too dry see some rain! Night all!

TO... we need pics of your prize winners!

Morning all!
Thought I'd check in before I get going!

Dan-I'll have to take some pics. See what you think. I'd hate to pull them if there is hope.

BBP-nice mare. Good luck with the delivery. Do you know when she is due? What is her name?

DAS-that was hilarious! The seat belt buckle thing is so true!

BL4-Glad you had a good time at the zoo! Nice score on the camera btw. I'd just deal with the police chief. Tell those others to call him instead of harassing you. I agree with BBP. Like they have nothing better to do then arrest ducks?!?

Cind and Vicki-That ID system had been around "forever". I fought against this when I was showing birds back in Cali. My take is from the poultry aspect.
It is the NAIS for the National system and the WI version is the WLIC-that is the livestock premises ID system. The WI one is a complete joke. The State Vet that came up with the plan has since retired. He was asked to help create it and seeing job security, he did it an a way that the WI tax payers gave him a nice $100,000 a year to oversee a system he helped the lawmakers create but knew nothing about. I have heard the WI was doing away with it since that have no space for the paper work and most people don't bother with it anyway. There are only two states that complied with the NAIS at that was WI and Indiana. One driving force behind it's creation (for poultry) was response to the Avian Flu but like many things in our government, it was started without them really grasping the concept of how to implement it and the cost to implement it. All this decision making was made by law makers who have no idea about farming or livestock raising. Then, as the legislation was meandering through the laborious process it goes through, the fear from Avian Flu died down because the People realized that is was not nearly the Pandemic the Media portrayed it to be. Then the People got side tracked by their MP3 players and IPhones and FB so they forgot all about it. But the legislation was still going through and finally got passed. Actually it was rather quick when you think about it! LOL. So now the Farmers are left to deal with a system that is complete bunk and has absolutely no value to anyone but some person some where who is getting paid a nice chunk of tax payer change to "oversee" it. Probably the vet dude in the article who has no clue as to what the system is. The best thing at this point would be to contact our state legislators and tell then we don't want it, don't need it and to the Feds butt out of our business.

Was a Good Morning Everybody! Till I went outside. Got the garden weeded, puled the bolted lettuces, replanted, dusted the cabbage, and checked the cuc's. I'm soaked. Obviously too hot for spinach to grow.

DAS thanks for this mornings laugh! Got a good down pour here but for only about 5-7 minutes but it did green the grass a little. Wondered if you got rain Apyl after hearing the thunder down your way. BFF said he got 3/4" but he can't see and won't get glasses. He always gets more rain, snow, wind, heat than we do.

Bf4me you left out really cute too. BL4 obviously your company must not have had any interaction with Mitt!

It's good to hear that there are some still out there that show appreciation for their employee's. I know there was more but..... Back out to rake up onion tops.

GOOD MORNING everyone :) SShhhhh do you hear that ????? Exactly it's silence... no arguing, no fighting, no crying, no smart ***** comments. :) My kids are playing quietly and DH took his kids to drop them off back to their mother. Talk about a sigh of relief. As much as I love to see DH have visits with his kids, boy after 2 days they become monsters. Ya know its bad when my kids and their friends do everything possibly to stay away from the step-kids because they cant handle them. lol. Now I just need to clean up the house and get everything back to normal.

Oh Dr.H we did get rain yestarday :) Oh and if you notice my 5yo is about to get into an argument with 12 yo step-DS lol

Welcome to any newbies thats joined in the last 2 weeks. Congrats to everyone who got new horses, and glad to hear the abused horse's owners are being charged. Sorry to hear about the duck issues and the cops, that stinks. Sorry for all the stuff I missed, I'll stay on top of it now ;)

Here the garden is looking good with the rain, but so are the weeds lol looks like I'll be weeding this week. The chickens and ducks are doing good here and enjoyed the rain. Not to much going on. I hear a pullet making all kinds of noise this morning but still no egg. Well I guess thats about it for now. I hope everyone has a great day.

DrH, the head of the company is a die-hard Repub...... just an FYI.

I called the dispatch last night, left messages..... waited up until after 11..... nobody has shown up yet. What the heck!

At least they guy who came over last night was all smiles and was looking at this like some kind of joke..... the first cop was all hard-***** and a jerk. I hate it when cops have to act like arrogant pricks.... so since you have illegal 'ducks' I am going to treat you like you are running a meth lab in your basement. DUH! I have enough issues keeping my wacky weed farm under wraps......
lau.gif

I should motivate, all I have done so far today is drink coffee and watch Dog the Bounty Hunter on Netflix..... at least I just got my jeans in the wash and I have a notion to take a shower.... then I have to go shopping. Lovely. I hope I can drag the DH out to the lake this afternoon so he can 'take a load off'..... he works too hard!

Later all!

Bf4me I'll bet your a handful! Wonder where your kids get it from? Thanks Apyl for the pic it took me back to the early 60's when we lived in town and it rained so hard that the storm sewers backed up and my step brother and I decided to play in it. WE had a GREAT time until mom hosed us off outside can still remember screamin at how cold the water was. We're 5 mo's apart in age. Other than that we were perfect lil angels!

Can't believe we were never culled. Shoulda been! Another time mom chased us down thru the neighborhood park with a laundry stirring bat [old school]. Good thing she had short legs. Don't remember what we did but says to this day if she would have caught she da killed us.
