Hello,
Selling a flock of 31 chickens.. They are production reds are majority, 2 buff orpintons 14weeks old, 1 barred rock, 1 black astrolop.. I am seeling these for free due to they have CORYZA.. its an upper respitory infection.. They still lay eggs and are all eating. They can be carriers of this disease and be fine once recovered in which they are.. I had my own flock and went to buy a couple more from else where and i bought infected birds which infected mine.. Since the birds are under 8 months old i have a hard time just killing them, but have new ones coming in september so i need to get rid of these.. if anyone is interesed plz email!!
This is not a good idea as bringing in chickens with Coryza or carriers of Coryza as it can infect your chickens. The best would be to cull in my opinion.

Afternoon all!
I almost typed morning then looked at the clock! Got up late today so I'm behind. Although given that we planted 2 trees, I filled bird feeders, got all the critters taken care of, sprayed week killer to kill some weeds that have not managed to die yet, and laid down mulch in various and sundry places, I cannot see how I'm feeling like I'm behind the 8 ball today! I even have the towels in the laundry!

Given all that the critters are all well and happy. So life is good for them! I have a little head ache today but I think that is from sleeping in. I never do that. Maybe getting head aches is why!
So what else.....oh I have to research vacuum cleaners. My Dyson is getting a little tired. I have the Animal and most likely will get another one but I like their canister vacuum a lot.

BigFam-I went to your post like wanted me to and visited. Happy now!?!

Vicki-I'm with you! Who would want a flock with Coryza? I don't get people some times. In some cases the best thing to do is cull and yet people can't seem to do it. I get that the chickens are young but still, it seems rather irresponsible to me.

BL4-Good luck at the community picnic! Hope it goes (or went) well!

Cind-I remember those skates! They were before my time but I remember them! I remember roller skating with a pair that were a close relative to the metal ones! We had a huge hill we could go down. The nice neighbor at the bottom if that hill made a huge hay pile so we had some place to land until we could figure out how to stop!
I also remember playing in our dirt pile with Tonka trucks, sling shots, riding our bikes with nothing but God's Good Grace while we did incredibly stupid things on them. I remember diving broads too. I remember talking in our woods all day, exploring with nothing but a lunch Mom made and a compass and my brothers Boy Scout tool kit. No cell phones there! I remember ice skating on our neighbors homemade rink and making a huge snow fort for massive snow ball fights. The snow blow driver was a neighbor with a tractor. Out road always was cleared before the city got to us! When he cleared the cul du sacsm, He'd get these huge piles of snow it in the center. Best Forts Ever!!
Looking back, I can't imagine how we survived the stupid things we did but the stories we can tell!!!

I almost lost my lunch on that one! ROFL

Well, best got going, towels are almost finished running in the wash and I have more laundry. Dh went to the movies so I'm hear enjoying the quiet day with the lazy dogs....

I imagine someone will take them for butcher.
I was super brave and got on our new mare today. We bought her not knowing much about her. That was my 5th time riding horse in my life. It went pretty good but at some point she decided to drop to her front knees and roll with me on her! luckily when I saw her front going down I tried to jump off. Only my ankle got pinned under the saddle. And her trot is horrendous. I almost popped out of the saddle because its way too big for me.

Hen update... pretty certain it is not heat exhaustion. Upon doing some research on BYC... her symptoms are pointing to internal laying or yolk buildup internally... there is a fancy word for it, but that is the best I can do to explain.
she is still very listless and wobbly. Wants to sit down. eats just a little and drinks a little ( I have her on antibiotics). Even cooked some egg and had to put it near her face and she took a nibble and that was it. Pooping a little, but watery. pale comb and huge pupils.

we leave for disney in a few days so we may have to cull her before we go. Not the best news for the happiest place on earth is it... oh well, we have been up front with the kids from day one about animals life and death. Although this is the chicken that would hug my daughter by putting her head on her shoulder. Would get jealous when she petted other chickens and hop in her lap. Such a little lover.
I don't see how the huge pupils relate to egg peritonitis. I would suspect botulism as it may be possible she got into something the others didn't. I would take her off antibiotics and give her a mollasses flush. I feel that antibiotics can do more harm than good especially if you do not know what she has. Then get her some good nutrition including some oregano or italian seasoning mixed with moist crumbles. Some live yogurt(small amount), small amount of chopped ginger, and small amount of chopped garlic. And possibly some powdered probiotics with the V+Es. To start with. Plenty of fresh water. Also have you checked this https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=219553

You can also give her a TUMS for a boost of calcium. She sounds very special.

Good afternoon! Just got back from Madison...one of my friends' daughters is getting married in September. IT was fun to see her daughters again! I cant believe she is getting married...funny thing is she had it all set and the invites sent out...then found out she is pregnant! Poor girl, she is selling her original wedding dress and bought another one now that will fit over her tummy. The baby is due at the end of November and she didnt want to change the wedding plans. Her fiance seems like a nice man. Crazy trying to find a place to park in madison though. The shower was at the Memorial Union and there was construction all around of course...

The flock that has Coryza wouldnt be bad to have if you had no other chickens...as long as they are healthy now they will still lay eggs and such...someone might want them--never know!

Godd for you riding that mare BBP! I hope you got back on after she rolled on you? That is a tactic that some try to end the ride...if she pulls it again give a good pull on the reins and goose her forward! You dont want that to become a habit for sure....happend to us one time while riding at McCarthy....there was a sppongy soft spot and as soon as the group got onto it several of the horses started to buckle their knees! It was very funny and we all had a great laugh...especially at the folks who were green riders and never had a horse do that to them before! My new horse seemed like he wanted to do that the first time I had him in the river.

Now that is something I would not want to try!

Tanks Tiki....she is not eating or drinking anything. Looked at botulism and she did not have droopy wings or neck like they said were symptoms, just doesn't want to walk and when she does is wobbly. Her feathers are also not coming out which they said is another symptom, but on reading that maybe it is a toxin. Big or plant or something she got in. We only let the free range when we are out with them' so I know where they go most of the time. we did two days of electrolyte water with no change before I switched to antibiotics in water...but she is nt drinking much of anything
Pretty sure she is near the end.

Yes the Corzya birds are a little scary, but someone without other birds might want them. Otherwise exciting day of laundry and ironing and packing

Yah yah....MLH needs to proof read better! She gets it! lol!!! For those of you whose minds tend to wander towards the gutter (won't name names DrH, CC, and BigFam) I meant to type diving boards......As in those planks at the deep ends of pools so you can jump or dive in to the water or do really stupid jumps off of them? Do they even make pools with deep ends anymore!!

DrH-no...we traveled past the lot line on our adventures!! That was what the compass was for!!! We had a haunted lake to visit, the old Indian Burial Site (at least that is what we called it!). Then there was the burned out hull of a house. There was the lane my Grams dubbed Englishman's Lane since it reminded her of the lanes back in England where she lived. That was fun in the summer and fall since it was lines all down one side with wild blackberry bushes. We used to pick them and Mom made jam. Ah the good old days!!
Of course looking back on it now, these places where never to far away but to us kids it was big fun and very far away especially since we had short legs!

CC-My roller skates were white boots with the metal wheels. No breaks. I remember begging my Mom to get me new ones when those new rubber (or what ever they were made of! ) wheels came out. She said not until the metal ones wear out! Took me forever to wear those things out. I think I finally accidentally left them outside during the winter and they rusted. The next pair were white boots with red rubber wheels and they had the front break.

Oh my gosh I am hot and tired..... did not get too many signatures but I did manage to get the word out about what I was trying to do. I thought it was really funny when people would say ' We can't have chickens in town? When did that happen?' I was glad I brought a copy of the ordinance and some info on coops, keeping chickens in town etc.....

Time for a nap and a lot of WATER.

That 'bean' joke was just
