good early morning folks,
up early doing some canning trying to beat the heat,,,,,
Terri my 1st year making garlic powder, plan is to slice the cloves (processor) then dehydrate, then use a blender to pulverize to a powder form,,,,put that through a ss strainer getting the big chunks out (once again use the blender) then,,,Eureka! garlic powder! lots of time involved but a value added market product for me,,,,,,,,limited production this year
well the remaining roosters have taken up the slack with early morning crowing,,,,funny how that works
a friend called Oneida County yesterday (they have 100 pullets almost at pol) to find out there is are ordinances in place,,,8 hens max for residential zoning or more if you have 5 or more acres,,,not sure what that # is,,,,,glad I am now zoned AG here,,,he's shutting up and hoping for the best with his neighbors (most are family),,,
my note on broody breaking, I tossed 3 in a cage a week ago, (really don't want or need chicks from the possible crosses now) yesterday I let them loose,,,2 headed to the nest boxes within an hour (they went back to the cage) one ran with the flock all day, we'll see what she does today. Also the Blk Langshan that had been broody but broke on her own is now moulting,,,getting a free ride for awhile I guess
a timer just dinged,,,bbl
