Vic I vote take away all forms of eggs and let her break her own brood. I love my broody just for the entertainment value. judge oh how I would love a barn like that! That coop fits right in! Very nice. kris nothing better than sleeping in your own bed. Glad you had a safe trip. cs that's terrible about the DD, hope she returns to normal soon! Jim the sticky comment made me think about the relish that's a sticky mess too. It's just terrible I tell ya. Specially when you have to eat it! Payday today so doing my running. And I just remembered I have to fix that weedeater that someone dropped off LAST week.

Morning all!
As I sit here catching up, I'm watching BTB hunt Harry Bunny. It's rather entertaining. Bubba is trying to hunt Harry from underneath Harry's cage. Harry is not backing down and giving Bubs the evil stink eye. Harry is a master at stink eye! Geesh! Now the Barbarian is hunting a fly...in the blinds....ACK!!! Good gravy that cat is wild....

So, just as an FYI, pheasants like cup cakes. I have some leftover cup cakes that needed to be tossed so I gave them to the Girls. I didn't want Buzzy to feel left out so I gave her one. Thinking she would just run from it then stare it down, I watched here. Turns out she likes them! Who knew?

Well, I should go take care of the Dungeon Bunnies.... Need to make a cake for the Gals at the Vet clinic. We were there yesterday with Buddy. He has a fatty tumor right on his elbow.....Go figure...And we got some new medication to try for his lameness since Deramaxx is not available any longer.

It's my DH's birthday today. He doesn't have to milk tonight and I think we might get to spend a whole evening alone without kids. Think we'll get some dinner at a grown up restaurant for a change. One with no chicken strips or mac n cheese lol Yippeeee!

Hey All,
I have made a new friend, a very nice lady who sells chicks, chickens and eggs at farmers markets or the flea markets.. not sure which.
She is getting some extra mix breed chicks that I have and some the two silkie roosters that NEED to go!
(No TO, not the nice ones you gave me from your friend).
Anyway she is taking 3 of Joan's horses, (Joan is severely down sizing and giving good mares that are broke AND several unbroke young geldings away). All have papers.
Oh and she is taking my extra pony for her daughter, her friends kids and nieces and nephews!!


I have KristiP's silkie chick, and brought in two newly hatched jaerhon chicks of my own, AND previously picked up an EE chick that is Kristi's...
BUT the silkie has a cold, I checked on them this morning and her eye was sealed shut with chicken snot, and so was her left side nare.
I got warm water on a wash clothe and q-tips to get it off,... but any other tips??

Jim... Guess we don't get Smucker's brand pectin around here, at least I haven't seen it where I shop.

TO... If the plucker was done I'd let you use it! Got to come up with money for a few parts (like fingers) running a bit low on that lately.

Judge.... Love that pretty little coop! I would use welded wire for fencing and put mesh over the top.I've used a mesh fencing from Menards it's 4' wide and I just took twine and laced it together to make it 8' wide. It comes in (I think) 50' and 100' rolls. It was way cheaper than "flight netting" or a mesh tarp.

cs... hope DD gets over it soon! I can't help much, my family is not effected by poison ivy or oak, or almost any of that. Don't know how many times I went hiking with friends and was the only one not infected the next day.

Good news!!! I found my guinea hen!!! Yep, she's held up in the back south corner of the yard in the tall grass, on a nest! Debating if I want to just let her at it or take the eggs a try hatching them. I'm a bit concerned about her safety, but we are fenced, not well, but fenced. I don't NEED more guineas (since 5 just hatched ) but I could sell them and we could use the few extra bucks! Maybe I'll get the 'bator out just in case.

Guess that's it... night!

There is a lady I know that might be interested in some guinea chicks...

OK, I have my day in .. I am ready for my nap and it is barely noon..

I siphoned both jugs of wine for the first time.. I was not satisfied with all the sugar settled on the bottom.. I dissolved the sugar, which wasn't as much as it appeared.. anyhow I got rid of a lot of sediment and the juice is much more clear now..-

then I drained 1 1/2 gal of wine from an old batch of grape wine and fine tuned it a bit to make it more drinkable.. it is quite "portly".. Now the two one gal jugs just have to set for a few days to clear and it should be good to go..

Annie bought a new siphon .. No sucking on the hose to get it started.. just a quick and easy pump and it is siphoning.. If you are in a hurry, you can use it like a pump.. in fact that is how you purge it to clean it..

I am at a stand still for starting any more wine.. Annie loaned my juicer to Ken's DD .. we should be getting it back tomorrow..

we had toasted English muffins with lots of bl-berry jelly on .. I told Annie that I would make another dozen pints, if she picked some more berries.. She didn't hum and haw around about it this time.. In fact, she is picking up a 50 pound bag of sugar today..

My fun day: no video games or tv till the required cleaning is done. The children hate to help, and I hate picking up their sh!t. As you can imagine, my house is a mess. I have 2 boys working on bathrooms. I have one doing a stove top. Another is apparently on a permanent break since I'm not breathing down his neck. I guess it's time for some heavy breathing...

Btw im in jackson County W, born and raised. New to the site but so far love the info/people we have a large mix of chickens, 4 goats(Alpines) a peahen"till friday when we going to get a cock and 2 hens" a potbellied pig 6 cats 1 dog and 20 or so fancy pigeons and 20 or so rabbits (mostly Holland lops)
