thanks, if you get the chance and are able to go to the Wisconsin State Historical Society building on the bottom of Bascom hill in Madison(just at the end of State St) you can go in and do research for dates before 1908 I think (it's been years since I went there to look up information).

I got hook on working on my family tree in grade school and added to it as I got older and once I came up to Madison for college, I was able to sit at the Wisconsin State Historical Society and research. Of course now days there isn't much time.

try the county court house as well, they may have some information and if you know the church cementary were they are buried you might find information there too.

Working on pickle relish and pickled onions this afternoon, have to soak the onions over night before continuing with them. Off to the garden to see if I can find a cucumber or 2 to make a double batch.

Hey H&R...can you post your pickled onion recipe? I am thinking about doing mine because they didnt grow very well and are the perfect size! Thanks! How did you end up with Jalapenos if you guys dont like them? I had quite a hard time finding green pepper plants this year...

I unloaded the hay that I got last night. Man, the humidity must be really high out there! I was dripping wet and it was only 25 bales! I am glad I dont have a whole wagon to unload!
We were supposed to go to the state fair tomorrow but DH messaged me to say that the train is already 6 hours late! He said the party will already be over for his work. I dont really want to go late anyhow...guess we'll stay home...I dont understand how the train can be late every week! IT seems like if it is that late then wouldnt it run into the next route? No wonder people dont use it to travel too much!

Had a surprise this morning while I was catching up...my some walked in the door! He was just home last week...turned out that the girls needed him to play in their double header Volleyball matches tonight so DD26 drove to Milwaukee this morning to pick him up. It is so weird how my kids get along so well and want to be together all the time! I dont remember spending that much time with my brothers growing up...maybe there is some hope for your boys BigFam...if they dont kill each other off first!

That cracked me up when you said that the other day...my Mom used to say it all the time!

I am going to pack up a few pickles now...maybe some dilly beans too. Next year I am going to try a different variety...I thought I got the round ones but they are slightly flat and the skin seems very tough. WHat was the one you guys like Bigz? The yellow beans are fine...but not those green ones!

TO do you have the Ball Blue book of preserving? If so I follow the Onion Pickles recipe in there but leave out the hot red peppers. Our neighbor shared pepper plants with us that he got from someone he knows- he wasn't sure what they were as they weren't marked so we put them in. I guess DH does like Jalapenos, he reminded me of this when I told him what the plant was so I might try canning a couple of jars. Hoping that we get some beans as DH is out of dilly beans. Beets are growing pretty good too so we'll be making pickled beets as well.

Waiting for the sun to go down a bit more before picking pickles.

bf4me- maybe next time one of your kids tries to run away, you should try my method. Eldest DD said to me once that she was going to run away. I told her that she could, but that she could not take anything with her that I had purchased including her clothes! She never did run away.

BBP- awwww, the doe was mothering you and checking to see if you were okay and the other was nudging you in an upward direction to go home!

I forgot to tell you guys...
Send good vibes my way around 9pm. I'm running the Full Moon 5k tonight. I haven't done a race since Dec. I also do NOT walk in a 5k. It's a restriction I've put on myself, and holy crow, sometimes I want to throw up at the end. I'm hoping my training so far will prevent any vomiting this evening!
