Long time no 'see'! I am just going to jump back in if you all don't mind. We had a busy summer and finally got our very first eggs this week!! I had a talk with them last week about how if they weren't laying before the cold set in they would be declared duds and made into chicken booyah, must have worked I think there is only one laying. We were gone on Sunday and Monday I found 2 eggs, Tuesday we got one, but she laid it while roosting and it cracked on the coop floor. Nothing on Wednesday or Thursday and one today, in the nest box thankfully. So I think there is only one laying, one of our production reds. At 23 (24 tomorrow) weeks old I thought they'd all be laying by now. We did luck out and of our 6 only one is a rooster and I actually really like him. He has personality and he sure is pretty! Now that we are getting eggs I am wondering what a production red/orpington cross would look like....LOL

Went to the mill in Clintonville today....$17.00 per hundred for corn...just sayin.

I think Benson is a good fit for the Pack....He has talent for sure.

Just sat down for supper...the outside cooker was rockin again....deep fried swai, ho-made onion rings, and new red potatoes cut like cottage fries...heaven again here on the hill.

Off to the North of here in the mornin....wonder if I'll see as many turkey crossing the road as last trip?

TO-Thanks for the tip on the head shaking. Unfortunately, they are not molting. All the Girls are laying. I think I'll try the Vet Rx. Maybe that will help. I think I'll use Sulmet next.

I had to check out my Normande cows.... I just love them! All those stripes!

Allergies were pretty awful today.... popping pills left and right all day long due to sinuses and a splitting headache.

Just waiting for the DD and her BF to come home. They are babysitting his steers until 11.

tiki... I wouldn't give up hope yet... no feather, no blood... is a good sign. Look in real little spaces... Jasmine brooded in a space only 4'' high. If she got scared she could have crammed herself into something real small. If the landlady comes over often... wouldn't hurt to ask... might get a reaction even if she denies any knowledge.

Wow... looks like only a few diehards showed up here today... not many posts at all!
Not much going on here. DH goes in Mon. to get some polyps removed so he's on a liquid diet for the weekend.

It's also going to screw with his blood sugar so I'm bracing for a crab on my hands! The boys just plan on just hiding. Well, still have dishes to do so .....Night all!

Morning all!
Just getting ready to start the day, so thought I'd check in before I got going.

Cind-Actually, Elvis was an unnamed rooster until DH named him Elvis. Just so he could say "Elvis has left the building!"

If we can find a costume, I will definately post pics!!

TO-At some shows, the judges are not DQ'ing the Game Fowl for having combs. Even though the SOP states combs are to be dubbed, there are some people who don't want to alter their birds in that way. Kinda like there are dog show people who don't want to dock tails and trim ears. I actually have no problem with it as long as those of us who want to dub per the SOP still can. I think if the APA were to allow the birds to show undubbed and they placed that in the SOP, then they need to have in place some form of comb guideline.

BL4-I've never hear of a Normandie cow before so I had to Google them. They sure are beautiful!
