Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I would take him in a heartbeat if I could.... amazing coloring and I have a soft spot for paints...

Terri, could you try neosporin in the tortoise eye first? Trixie has dinged up her eye from the last outing to the grandparents and I am about ready to put some in her eye since it is still weepy...

Going to the in-laws for thanksgiving tomorrow. DD#1 and BF are going to do some more hunting. I hope they get something. The poor BF had one of his cats pass away tonight. One of his favorites.... so sad.....

Nothing else to report here.Going to try and remember to take a watermelon to the ducks tomorrow (their Thanksgiving treat).

I hope the GF crust works!

Then I think you need some paint silkies !!! LOL

Hi All!

TO... There is a vet here in Burlington that dose birds and reptiles. We used him when we had lots of reptiles. Probably too far for you to go though.

BBP... Nice roos.... NO! I don't need any! LOL That colt is going to be a beauty! How is he doing size wise?

DrH....I was going to say something about a screen between the back porch and the kitchen. I was thinking it would be easy for little kitties to sneak out while you bring in wood. Glad you already thought about that! ;)

Jim.... I think your young peacock is very pretty for just having regrown his tail! Glad the girls think so too!

Angie.... those are cute (and useful) stickers.

Guess I'll check back later....

Cold cold day out today. Got my first lonely little single egg in 3 days, though. Maybe the molt is nearing its end. They all look like they are pretty well back to normal feathers except for the primaries and tails. Really hoping the Iowa Blues kick back in soon, I'd like to set some IB eggs for the NYD hatch.

Ooo paint silkies. I've had my eyes on those. May have to pick up some hatching eggs if my flock doesn't cooperate.

Lovely pinto, agreed that the head really looks more saddlebred than quarter. Hard to tell lying down about the rest, but he doesn't look like the body of a quarter either. Great color. Sure miss my horses, had a few growing up that I rode everywhere, trained, and showed.

Do you guys keep lights on your hens for the winter? These guys are hanging out in the coop so much that I don't think they see much of what little sun we have.

good Chilly morning today,20 degrees with 10 degree windchill in beautiful rib mountain.

Hurley I keep a light on in my coop, it goes on about 4:30 am and shuts off around 8:am I get eggs all winter.

I need to clean up the coop today and fix some christmas lights that blew down, Doubt if I will be out long. Too cold
Have a good day everyone.

So going to be short. Cindy hoping the screen will keep the new kids out of the porch, too many places for them to get into trouble ie wood pile, blower motor. The screen is 42" high. Hoping that it's high enough! Otherwise might have to put a screen door on it. Thinkin I'll be eating a lot of Ibu the next few days the road trip to the valley has aggrivated the "back" again. This trip will be twice as long. Calling the chiro next week. Gonna have some PO'd chickens today.

B'fast, shower, and road trip. See you tomorrow Cindy!

Morning all!
Hurley~my light goes on around 5:30 am and off around 7 pm. (on a timer).I let mine go all day because I was able to find 9 watt (40 watt equivalent) daylight cfl bulbs (at walmart of all places) that are candelabra shaped so they fit into those barn fixtures that have the glass globe and safety cage. Yes, per the manufacturer, it is ok to put a cfl bulb in an enclosed fixture as long as the cfl bulb is 15 watts or less. Those who think they know will argue with you but check the cfl site for themselves.

Beautiful horse!!!

I so miss my Tennessee walkers. Quarter horses, not so much. Had one drag me over 1/2 a mile once!!!

He was a rogue that this guy had just picked up from an auction and insisted I try him out. He was told the thing was gentle as a lamb. Well, half way down the trail the drugs must have worn off because he suddenly grabbed the bit and went nuts! I stayed with him till he did a full bore slam the breaks left turn and I went right and of course my foot hung in the stirrup. He finally got tired of dragging me I guess (honestly don't remember a lot of that) because my trail partner was able to grab the reins and get me loose. I was picking gravel out of my entire backside for a week. Needless to say, I don't like quarter horses.
Footnote-the thing tried to kick his stall apart when he was put away and tried to bite anybody that got near him. The guy said, "but he was standing so nice and quiet at the auction and I got him really cheap". DUHHH. You were the only one there that didn't know the thing was doped that's why.

My girls are being real woosies about the snow . Ok, so, it's another first for these girls. If they had never touched grass when I got them, they had never touched snow either, BUT, slide down the ramp, tiptoe for a few steps and run back into the coop??? and stay there??? I didn't even know chooks could tiptoe!!!

Ok, made a big pot of " turkey carcass and whatever was in the freezer" soup early this morning (did my stock last night) for my deer hunters and now I am off to do some serious girl time in Antigo. Got several site to store pickups waiting for me @ wally's.

Have a great weekend all!!!
