I would like to be able to hide forums that do not interest me, so when I hit the new post button I do not have to scroll through the stuff that does not interest me.

To hide forums, just click the - to the right of the top of the forum you wish to hide.

Other than that, I don't think you can do that in the New Posts section.

You CAN see if someone is online, theyre profile pic will have a green corner
