Witnessed A Vandalism CLOSE-UP (UPDATE Post# 116)

there's a "Spinach and Soy Cheese Gluten Free/Dairy Free Frozen Personal Pizza" made by Amy's or something like Amy's. Sounds awful, but its delicious! Expensive, too, about $7 each.

IMO, the vandals should have to do time writing letters to each of their victims, explaining exactly what one does with puppodums. Misspelling puppodums could lead to further vegan sentencing.

I don't know, it was pretty traumatic, hiding from them, being frightened, pieces of mailbox hitting my head. I think they should go on meat probation for like a year. And every time they eat their vegan dinner they should be required to call all their friends and announce they're going to eat seitan, and when finished they must thank mom for the "wheat meat".

That smilely does not do justice to the amusement that post brought to me.

I'm a vegetarian and seitan is just gross. What better way to torture a teenage country meat eating boy? Maybe tie them to a chair and force them to watch Alicia Silverstone vegetarian promotional videos? Ah, yes, the possibilities are endless..... <last line best read in a dramatic evil leader voice and picture me petting the white cat on my lap>...

From another TRUE long time vegetarian. I agree with everything you've said about veggies and how people respond or joke about us. No preaching here either. You eat what you want and I'll eat what I want. But if you ask me why I'm a vegetarian, you'd better be ready for the answer. I believe people get defensive because some of them feel guilty. Look, if you're going to feel guilty about something...don't do it. But that's not my problem, and my choice has no effect on your and vice versa. Thankfully it's getting to be more accepted and less people ask why. But the ones who eat fish? I always say to them, "Last time I checked, fish wasn't a vegetable." That's called being a Pesatarian when they only eat fish as a meat source, some people use it as a transition into full vegetarianism. My DH did.

Vegan = no animal products, not even honey from bees
Ovo-Lacto vegetarian = will eat eggs and dairy products (some people will not eat one or the other and will differentiate themselves as an ovo-veggie or latco-veggie)
Vegetarians should also be avoiding rennet in cheese and animal derived gelatin (only vegan marshmallows will do!)

The long list of famous people (including pro athletes like NFLers) who are vegan or veggie would surprise people.

It never ceases to amaze me when I say I don't eat meat, and someone will say, "Well, you eat fish, though right?" And I repeat, "No, I don't eat meat" and so begins their argument that fish isn't meat. Baffles me every time. Of course it's meat! Last I checked, the flesh of an animal meant for food is, um, MEAT.

I generally avoid telling people *why* I am a vegetarian. It's a sad and awful story. Debi has heard it, right Deb? Then everyone feels really awkward, so I generally just avoid it. But yeah, if they really want to know, I'll tell them. Of course, being a vegetarian for 25 years, I have since learned many other good reasons to be a vegetarian, but I still avoid the topic if possible, unless someone is actually open minded.

I applaud vegetarians for living the lifestyle they choose, eating what they want, and enjoying every delicious bite! You have your reasons for not eating meat, and I have my reasons for eating it. I think it's all good, and the debates on both sides are always interesting! I get bent out of shape when omnivores like myself jump all over vegans/vegetarians for their choice to be meat-free. That being said, though, I do like to have a choice in where my meat comes from and almost never buy anything prepackaged or processed (sometimes, but it's pretty rare that you'll ever find that crap in my house). Raising my own chickens gives me the best eggs I could ever hope to eat, and the chickens we will eventually be processing are well-fed, well-treated, and will be processed using the most humane practices. Beats the heck outta Foster Farms!

That's not up to me, it's up to the Post Office. The cop said it's the post office who has to decide whether to press felony charges, and he said they never do.

I can't imagine calling the FBI about this anyway, I'm pretty sure they have bigger things to worry about, but I appreciate your sympathy.

Laura, i would call the postmaster. See what he has to say about the whole thing. Explain that SEVERAL mail boxes are down and now you cant even get mail..etc...
I would also recommend to him that they press charges on these kids because of the VIOLENT nature of ALL the crimes they commited that night...etc...

I agree, I would contact the postmaster directly. The police already told you that the kids were 'good' and that they would make the kids repair the damages...obviously both of those were a lie. I'm sure it's up to the city police to inform the post master if they have information, and it doesn't sound like they'd be volunteering any.

The police did contact the P.O. and so did a few of us on the road. We were told by both police and P.O. that it is in court hands now and no mailboxes will be replaced. We've already all replaced them ourselves; we had no choice if we wanted mail. They didn't care.
