Won't come to bed tonight

I had to kayak last night to get them in! Scared them something good but maybe they learned their lesson silly ducks. Turns out the neighbor transferred mallards because the school staff was asking people to get them out of their enclosed courtyard with out any water where 3 hens laid eggs this spring. They had 28 babies roaming around! So I'm not as concerned now about the new 5 ducks who should have enough sense to care for themselves. The one female that has been following mine around however did follow them right into the barn, but my ducks weren't too happy about that so I had to kick the little one out : ( I hope it finds its other 4 mallard buddies to hang with.

Aww that's sad I hope there are still 4 other Mallards to find and hang out with. Glad you got yours inside and safe.

Ducks even Mallards who have been domesticated by humans [feeding caring for them] have not learned how to care for themselves in the wild since mama Mallard is the one who teaches them. They can't be just dumped out on a lake or pond etc and be expected to know what to do.
