Yes, I'm so excited. I'm hoping for 50 - 50 roosters and hens as these were my first shipped eggs and they will be the first chickens that I will actually be breeding for quality, so I'm hoping for multiple hens and rooster to pick from. Of course, only 4 of them developed, so I'm ordering more eggs. Yay!

Well, it looks like what my problem was with my recent hatches was my mercury thermometer....I had used it for the hatch where I got 7 out of 11 babies, but then put it in the brooder with them. After they moved out of the brooder I washed it and it slipped on the card where the temps were printed.

I got a digital thermometer to use alongside it for the next hatch, but I have read not to trust the digital ones and THOUGHT I had fixed the positioning of the mercury one, so I used the digital to read humidity and the mercury to read temps. DUMB MISTAKE. The digital always read about 2-3 degrees lower, and I blew it off.

To continue, I bought a nice set of analog thermo and hygrometer yesterday... the temps and humidty were right on with my digital. :O I have been ruining my own hatches with the temperature all this time. GAH. I increased the temp in the bator yesterday, hoping to save the ones who are still in there. Last ditch effort, and I still have at least 12 which were moving last night. Send me lots of positive hatchie energy, please!
Positive hatching thoughts are being sent telepathically to your eggs
