Worming with Valbazen

Hello,

Question on the issue of eating eggs after de-worming -- where did the 14-day thing come from? Is that simply an agreed-upon number within the community just-in-case/to-be-safe? Or did it come from a more "official" source?

The Valbazen is a cattle, sheep and goat wormer, and is used off label in chickens. You can choose to eat the eggs after a certain egg withdrawal time or not. Most people wait 2 weeks from the last dose. Here is a link concerning meat and milk withdrawal times in other animals: http://www.drugs.com/vet/valbazen-suspension.html

Hey guys, I just noticed these worms today in last nights poo. Is this round worms? I'm guessing pretty bad since someone is passing them. I have Wazine 17, will that do the trick? Thanks!!

Looks like roundworms to me. I use Wazine. It is easy to use, put it in the water. I also make a pitcher of it and then pour it on their food that way I know they're getting it in their food and in their drinking water. It has worked well for me in the past. The other wormers are good but you have to individually administer them and that is hard to do with 60 chickens.

There was one worm in poop this morning, I have identified which hen it is coming from. I have been feeding them pumpkin lately, could it be that is killing the worms she is passing? I have ordered Vern-X I heard this stuff works pretty good.

Have any of you all hatched eggs collected during the egg withdrawal period after treating with Valbazen? Thanks!

I dosed my girls this morning and was all worried about them. I wormed with the Wazine(sp) last year so it's been several months since I wormed them. Went out and checked on them about dusk and they were fine as could be! I got my usual hand pecking from my barred rock! I know they must have some worm burden because when they free range they are always finding dead birds and mice in the leaves and eating them!

Could worms make a chicken look like they are breathing hard? Or is it just the sudden 70 degree temperatures?
