Would a Hawk Kill A Kitten And Leave it?

I am so sorry. It hurts so bad to have the animals you care so much for and work to take care of to be hurt or killed. It is a helpless feeling. I am very sorry.

I had a hawk come into a pen with a tarp over it 10 feet away from my husband who was running a circular saw, killed 3 chicks, wounded the other 3 then must have gotten spooked and flew off. Just left the 3 it killed there laying on the ground. At first we had no idea what happened until we saw the hawk sitting in the light pole looking at us.
The other 3 birds had holes in them, I am assuming from the claws or beak. Surprisingly they survived, but what an eye opening experience!

Perhaps the hawk attempted to pick up the kitten and it got scared enough it had a heart attack?!?!
