Would you buy my Mosaics?

I think you should perhaps lower it a little to make it more competitive or a better incentive or something because if you can buy them direct from the original breeder for $40, why buy them from someone just starting for $35, you know? I am not trying to be mean with that, btw. Just wanted to point that out in case you hadn’t thought of it. And also if they’re not sexed they should perhaps be a bit lower too. So I think $30 or maybe even $25 might be better but then it also depends on how much the eggs cost as you don’t want to be losing money either.

Since you would have to see if they breed true. So you’ll have to buy some first. Hatch some eggs and see their offspring as adults to be sure of what you’re selling.

On Gold Feather Farms website it says ~ The Mosaic are exclusive to Gold Feather Farms and is the culmination of years of selective breeding. ~ Ask the breeder before you hatch their eggs and sell them. 35$ for me if too much for unsexed chicks from an unexperienced breeder. Good luck!

I guess I'm a little confused by your post. Are you buying eggs to hatch and selling them or are you setting up a breeding project?

If you're just buying the eggs to hatch you may find some people who will pay that but that really seems like a special chicken I could see a pet buyer after and they'll likely only want 1 or so. You're only leaving a $5 profit margin for each so lets say you get an 80% hatch rate and lets say you start with 20 eggs you would invest $500 on the eggs alone (you'd need to add shipping too), only 16 will hatch if we say an 80% rate which you could sell for a total of $480 ($30 each) so you would actually be losing money in this scenario for all the work you put into them.

If you're talking a breeding project that is a whole separate ball game. With mixes it would be extremely hard to maintain a profitable breeding project too.

For me personally, I wouldn't buy them. They're cool but I'd have no intentions of trying to breed them or anything so I'd just get hens to add to my laying flock because they look cool and that's just a bit pricey for just another egg layer.
