WV Spring ChickenStock Sat. April 24 8-12 TSC Martinsburg

I came home minus 5 roos and 2 hens. I always enjoy coming home to a flock reduction by humane means. With so many free ranging chickens it can be like being greeted by 25 golden retrievers as soon as you drive up. I feel like they found great new homes. I have my day lilies soaking. Thank you Mrs Fancy Plants to you and Mr Fancy Plants for hand delivering them 5 hours. What amazing service! I hope your daughter is feeling better. Great big thanks to Mrs Bear for organizing. We need to have another one in the fall because I have so many hens I could not bring because they went broody. I'll have a lot more birds to get rid of then. I'm spending 2 years in Tanzania after I get married in October and need to keep just a few that my mother can absorb into her flock.

I'm glad you appreciated the effort. I almost made him cancel the trip, as it was supposed to be me going. I felt bad making him drive so far when he's not really into the chickens like I am. I told him he could probably just ship the lilies, but he wanted to make sure you guys were well taken care of since you were some of our very first orders! He also wants to make sure he sets up his business so that customers know they will get quality service and product. This is important as most of our business will come from word of mouth referrals.

So, when you're day lilies bloom and you get compliments on them you know where to send people

Just curious, seems like everyone sold roos... who bought them all... is there some BYC'er out there with 20 roos now?

I'm home. I had 9 laying hens diff. breeds, 6 chicks, 1 CM pullet and 4 roos. I came home with 2 roos. My wheaton Maran and CM. I might have them sold Sunday to a guy down the road that did not make it to the sale. I sold my BLRW (GLW color) as a trio with my GLW,SLW hens. The 2 GLW will make a great breeding pair. I got all the chicks I wanted.

Soaring chicks, I don't think I got a chance to meet you... I am always so out of my brain, that I forget to walk around and say hi to everyone.

Faykoko, I am also very thankful for your hubby making the trip. I would've totally understood and paid for shipping but, he really sent the message of a great business man. I hope that new venture works out and I will definitely keep that site on my favorites and refer when I can.

Lynnis, those were just about the prettiest roos I have ever seen. Someone probably bought them for yard candy. I was suprised we unloaded as many roos as we did. I have NO idea where all the roo buyers came from but, I am thankful

I asked you about the signs you make and how long they take and how much. We are still thinking of getting one with our farm name on it. It's Soaring Hawks Farm. We have Red Tail Hawks that breed in the GR across the road from us. They are always flying over head. Even before the chickens came along. I had the big blk trailer with the loud roo. Your son loved him.

Edit~To tired to spell right.

That was a beautiful roo. My dad and I were taking guesses as to what it was.. def not BR... not dominique cause no rose comb. We were quite perplexed. I guessed cuckoo marans but, still wasn't sure.

Im so darn glad the rain stayed away and we had a decent day. I would love to do these once a month but, Tammy says it would probably lose it's nostalgia. I have to agree. I'll have plenty for fall. I have a lot of SQ birds growing out that I just couldn't part with until they are fully mature.. so , Fall will be better for me.

He was cute and we enjoyed him playing as our son is 15 and "to grown to do anything w/ mom and dad~where people he knows might see him" The roo is a 9 month old CM. He is one of the ones I hope I sell Sunday. I have his pullets that I'm going to croos with the blues from Peachick. Hope I get Blue CM chicks. Yours where cute as can be. I have to stay away from the little ones with mine being so big.
Thanks for thinking he was nice looking. I was worried no one would like them. I did not even get my Partridge Cochin roo out of the trailer before he was sold along with 6 of my hens. Now he was Beautiful and Bigger!

We had a great time! We sold every single thing we brought (except the table- lol) and picked up 5 Maran eggs, 2 jars of honey, and about 20 peacock feathers (those girls

). In the fall we will bring silkies, bantam cochins, and coronation sussex! We can't wait!

Coronation sussex! Where on earth did you get your hands on those? I would love to get some from you some day but it would have to be when I come back in the US in 2.5 years.
