You sure see a wide variety of wild birds Bob. Wonderful photos!

I saw a wild bird up close today too but couldn't tell you what it was. It was flying around the inside of the chicken run creating havoc among the flock so I opened the run door to shoo it out. And of course a chicken followed it! I bet that girl was almost as hard to catch as the wild bird would have been. Crazy CCL!

I thought that you babied your chickens and taught them to come for treats. If you can describe your wild bird, perhaps we can guess at what it was. It would not surprise me if it was a starling.

I really have had a wide variety of birds this spring. There are a number of them that I have not gotten pics of such as the tiny Blue Gray Gnatcatcher, Spotted Towhee, Meadowlark, Orange-crowned Warbler, and Ruby Crowned Kinglet. Oh and I did spot a wren a couple of days ago.

From the quick glimpse of it I caught, it was sort of orangish-yellow and black with some white. A bit on the larger size. Pretty vague I know, my attention was elsewhere.

I do baby my chickens but they don't mind me very well. I tried to leave a trail of treats toward the door but she just ran around clucking her head off and did an awesome job of out maneuvering me. :gig

Possibly a Western Tanager or a Bullock's Oriole. I am guessing it was more likely a tanager.

Cool, I think you're right Bob! This picture came off a google search and seems to be what I saw:
