Delilah...this is fun for sure. Will you have your own eggs to hatch, or will you have them shipped? If you get from e-bay, remember to look at the persons feed back. Really helps to see a lot of good comments, especially with the follow ups and you see that eggs are viable.
You can pretty much rely on good viable eggs from BYC. It's the shipping we have to worry about. Good luck with your new adventure after Christmas!
Awesome thanks. I need to run to walmart later. I now have 14 out and 4 more trying with 2 iffys??
Here is my current pict. Arent they cuties!! So many sweet picts so far from you others. I love all the picts!!!
Last night we heard our first cheeping (yesterday was day 22). Woke up today (4 am) to hear very loud cheeping and the chick has pipped day 23! This just shows don't give up on your eggs too early!
Update: It is 5:00 and the egg is zipping.
The egg has been like this for about five hours. The chick is still peeping.
Oh My Goodness! You guys have me so excited with all of your pix and stories! My very first hatch of my very first chickens (Silkies) goes into lockdown today!!!! Seeing all these pictures of these gorgeous babies is awesome...and the information that everyone shares is so helpful to me being a total newbie (I'm another quiet researcher...although, not so quiet since I have to share everything I learn with my BFF
)
Silly question...I have an LG 'bator with no fan/forced air and I was wondering if I leave the "air holes" with plugs in or out for lockdown?
God bless you guys and keep those baby pix coming!
I have 4 babies, one did die. The dark one has a foot deformity, so splinted it. The other 3 are rip roaring!! 2 whites and one calico(according to seller)
Have 1 more egg in incubator but really think its not going to do anything, but will candle later tonight
