yellow lab bad skin what to do????

no carpet powders and the pup spends most of her indoor time on the hardwoods. They are swept and only mopped once in a while. We are currently feeding her goodlife recipe chicken and rice. Not the most expensive but not the cheapest. Thank you for all the imput

You might want to add an egg to the dogfood in the mornings...will help the coat and skin. Flea shampoo can and has killed pups...just so you know.

Try the Aveeno bath for the skin as stated...for regular baths after that we use Pantene.

Is the pup loosing hair...it may be mange. Any dog is at risk of contracting mange no matter how clean they are but flea treatments do not work on the spider mites under the skin. Research sarcoptic mange just to rule it out.

If the spots are just left over rashes from itching too much, dap a bit of Iodine (diluted 50/50 with water) on the rashes a couple times a day. They will heal faster. (won't hurt her if she licks it but try to discourage)

If you see no improvement in a couple of days...the vet is next step.

Could take a long time to pin point if it's food allergies...lucky for us we don't have that problem.

Good luck, hope you find the problem soon.

Thanks at will check into mange, but she isn't realy losing hair I've seen mange before. Adding eggs was a thought of mine as well and just started doing. Threads on this website and its sister forums gave me the idea. We are going give her meat from the freezer, eggs, and some veggies. I am stopping the dog food now to rule out or in food allergies.
