I know that there are like 1000 lice question posts on here, but I cant find the answers to my specific questions.
I bought two bantams today at a swap. I brought them home in the same carrier, but they were purchased from two separate people. When I got home, I gave both a bath with flea and tick shampoo as a precaution, and blow dried one. when I was going to blow dry the other one, I found gobs of lice eggs in her "wing pits." I pulled out the majority of the eggs. No where around here sells the poultry dust.

Question #1- will the other one be ok since he was only in the crate with her and then was given a bath with the flea and tick shampoo, blow dried, and put in a clean cage by himself?
Question # 2- what do I do for the nasty hen since I cant find poultry dust?
Question #3- How far can lice travel on their own? Since they were crawling on me and I brought a few in the house, can they crawl into the room with the brooder in it and get on my chicks? I took a shower since I felt like they were all over me, and put my clothes in the freezer to kill them.

Update: I dusted her with the seven dust. I dusted him and the cages as well. Anything else I need to do? # 3 still needs to be answered also.

Sevin dust takes care of questions 1 and 2. I'm glad you dusted the carrier they were in. I dont think lice can travel too far from their host, they would probably die before they made it into the room with your other chicks. However, if you had lice on you and if you went into the other room and you were in contact with the other chicks...guess what? You'll have to dust them and the box or brooder they are staying in.

I didnt come in contact with any of the chicks or their area, just walked by it but I was a few feet away. Can they jump? I only saw one lice (louse?) on me, but in my head there were millions. lol.

LOL...I understand. No they cant jump. You can vacuum or mop the floor if it'll make you feel better. (I hope you didnt have millions in your head!!!)
