Snakes for me!!! Grrrrrr. I've lost alot of chicks, pullets and cockerals to yellow rat snakes....had a 5 footer take on an full grown adult Buff Orpingtom hen one night. She was a screamer and that's what alerted me. The snake had dragged her off the roost in the hen house and out into the pen. Needless to say I grabbed the snake and killed it. They are my number one predator around here.

I have a number of cochin bantams. not wanting to part w/ any of my hens though. I do have a roo that is cochin mix that is 7wk old and will need a new home. He's quite beautiful. I would gladly give you some eggs when my cochin gals start laying. I currently have a black laced, gold laced, black, and my roo is a red cochin banty.

They seem to be happy. They have been digging little hollows in the dirt and rolling around in it. They didn't like going in their coop last night, though. Here is a picture:

Dani is the BR on the left, and Millicent is the BR on the right. We still don't have names for the RIRs. I tried giving them a little cabbage, but they don't seem to like it.

Shelly--you're welcome to come up here, but our farm isn't much of a farm. It's 8 acres that used to be a goat farm. Now it's some pitiful looking veggie gardens, swingsets/treehouses, and kid toys.
