YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well the "what gender is this" thread received a good amount of feedback on my birds sex, consensus says both are roos. They are going back on Saturday. Bye bye boys.

Both roosters, my 2 yr old EE hens combs aren't even that large

Here is an example of a male developing color on its shoulders. This is very typical of EE male feathering.

He/she has puffy cheeks now, coloring is a mix, nothing iridescent in feathers that I can see. Comb I'd not bright red yet. About 10 weeks

I'm soooo confused!!!

So i caught a chicken in the nest today, that I suspect of laying our first 3 eggs. Well the chicken that was in the nest laid a VERY small egg. The shell seems thinner. Has brown speckles on the pointy in, lighter in the middle and then a bit darker brown on the bottom. It's even smaller than the very first egg we got. So I am thinking this White Rock I caught in the nest today is actually a new layer and I have 2 layers. I went through the yard today, picking up random chickens with red combs, checking vents and the space between bones. It's possible it could be a RIR... but I'm not convinced. I also didn't see any wet vents.

Here is a pic of the girl that laid around 3pm with a very small egg... Could she be the one that laid the other 3 but then the 4th egg be so small and thin?

Egg #4 (speckled at the top, light and thin in the middle and darker at the bottom.)

eggs 1-4 in order of when they were laid.

Egg #4 (speckled at the top, light and thin in the middle and darker at the bottom.) eggs 1-4 in order of when they were laid. You are storing your eggs upside down! The fat part is the top where the air sac is. Storing them with the pointy side up will cause the air that is naturally in the fat side to travel upwards (as air will rise) this will scramble your egg before you crack it the air will go to the point right thru the yolk!

Will the food coloring really work?? I did read the other day that someone put lipstick on their chickens vents.

1. I don't have that many shades of lipstick
2. I would NEVER use lipstick again.

If the food coloring works. I'll do that.
