Will the food coloring really work??  I did read the other day that someone put lipstick on their chickens vents.

1. I don't have that many shades of lipstick
2. I would NEVER use lipstick again.

If the food coloring works. I'll do that.

I've used it, and it works! You have to really coat the feathers around the vent as well as the vent itself.

Post Office called at 6:45 this morning to say my chicks had arrived. I got them home asap and found all 13 looking great. They've spent the day in the home made brooder eating, sleeping, chirping, chirping some more. They're adorable! I'm almost afraid to go to bed tonight for fear of finding something sad in the morning. Is that odd?

Sitting here listening to the roos (5) ages 5.5 to 8 weeks making purr, chirp, peep sounds in the brooder. Keeping my grand Silkie roo chick for our daughter (@locoschicks ) and SIL this weekend. It is so nice just listening to the young birds before they go to sleep. They will all be moving into the big coop this weekend.

Did it taste weird the next time you put in on?
