YO GEORGIANS! :)

Update on the dead BCM chick from yesterday morning...

For real though, every time I look expecting to find it dead, it looks a bit better. It's hilarious walking. It had definitely picked up some speed/coordination today but steadies itself by holding wings straight out.. Haha. Looks like an 11-month-old learning to walk, where the head stays out front and the feet have to run to keep from falling.

It slept yesterday all. Day. Long. It would only wake when I picked it up to force feed vitamin water.. But today when I got home it was awake and playing "lemme peck your face" with a sibling.

It still doesn't seem to be actively eating but it did peck its nose into the food earlier so I think it's observing the others, although it didn't eat. It also doesn't take off running like the others when I put my hand in. But does protest appropriately when I'm handling it.

I had to clean pasty butt earlier too, which means what little IS going in is processing!

It's a cute little chick. LOL! You sounded like you were talking about a Penguin walking.

Ok
hey Valley Chick you just made my day.I'm so happy to hear I have a silver Americauna. I didn't know that EEs are not accepted in the APA. That is crazy. So what would you suggest I breed him with another true Americauna? Because I want to stay with true breeds, however that link says I have to get them from a true breeder not a hatchery bcuz you matcgetdd

I don't have an Ameraucana or really know much about them but if you want to make sure he is the real deal maybe you could contact someone at with the Ameraucana breeder club to find out for sure.
thank you. I will do that. I appreciate the link you sent me. I'm excited. I'm going to look in the Poultry Guide book chickenlover sent me and see if there are any females in there. If not Americauna club here I come. Lol Have a good night. Bless you & thanks for everything.

I was always confused on the EE/AM thing too, and flower broke it down simply here not long ago..

It's all based on color. Any EE can have the pea comb, slate legs, muffs etc.. BUT, in order to be an Ameraucana the color has to breed true. So EE may have all the characteristics of an AM, but if the color doesn't breed true it's an EE.

I hope that makes sense. I don't know all the recognized (or at least true) AM colors, but some are blue/black/splash, lavender, wheaten, blue wheaten.. You get the idea.

My blue partridge cockerel decided it's time to crow.. It's the most pitiful first I've ever heard. A half-second long and a single gasp, sounds like I would imagine an egret's or pelican's dying breath.

GAM, looks like sometime soon you'll be getting that brahma boy you need. I just have to decide which one I can part with!! They are THE best birds. :(

we have baby turkeys this morning.I woke up to the frist turkey zipping out this morning the rest should not be far behind. Three ducklings hatched last night also. Looks like I will be setting up a second brooder today.
