I'm so nervous, I turned my incubator around last night so I could see the eggs better when they were hatching and the temperature dropped a couple degrees last night and I haven't been able to get it to come all the way back up even after turning it back around. I don't know what could have caused it to drop... The heat elements are in the lid and I was moving that around all incubation with no change. Is it too late? They dropped to maybe 96-97 over night and got them back up to 98 now, but they've been very steadily between 99-100 all incubation and now this... I'm already dealing with shipped eggs so 2/3 already were gonners, I don't want to loose the last few. sad.png

I put one of the plugs back in hoping that that'll help bring it back up, but it hasn't been long enough to judge yet.

I think the eggs will be just fine. That wasn't enough drop to really harm them, just maybe slowed them down. I have an incubator that sometimes does that.....I think there is some kind of loose wire or something. I just wiggle them and all is good. Just keep an eye on it from now on every time you remember to. Take the plugs back out.....the developing chicks need the oxygen, especially after the first 10 days.

Oh Carcar! How fun! I love all those little things! Can't wait to do a real hatch! These chicks I am hatching now were all started under broodies and I am hatching them one by one. Craziest hatchings ever! I just sold 3 dozen hatching eggs and 2 dozen eating eggs and 1 dozen to the renters, so starting over with collecting. I had 2 guys ask me if I had chicks today. I am sort of afraid to hatch too many because there will be so many available at the feed stores. I will plan on a hatching for the middle of March because all my kids and grandkids are coming for an early Easter! They love to watch them hatch!

OK, I'll pull the plug out now. Thanks for your reassurance. You're so sweet. :)

I know someone had asked earlier, but are all of your Brahma's spoken for?

This hatch is, but none after now if you want to lay claim.. They're not the strongest hatchers (no Brahmas I've ever had are for some reason), so they can be a bit frustrating to predict hatch numbers. How many were you thinking?

A big hatch IS fun, but the indoor (i.e., SMALL) brooder sure does get crowded quick and I'm hesitant to put any brand new babies on the porch just yet.

If i'm going to do chicks again i'd like to do a brahma, a jersey giant and a muscovy. That's really all i could stand to add to my coop at this point.

You could do a hatch and bring them to the swap at TSC I'd like some more olive eggers and blue layers and I'd rather buy from friends. I call tomorrow about 2pm to see about the hatch talked to Kevin tonight and he will know how many and what hatched as they are coming out now!!

Well, we were just awakened by what sounded a horrible lot like a fox mating call outside out bedroom wall.

That's it. I'm taking my birds and moving to a high rise.
