YO GEORGIANS! :)

Day 20 and I have my first ever chicks to hatch! 24 of the 25 eggs have pipped. Does that sound about right?

Congrats. I am bummed as I think my Little Giant G forced air incubator has gone bad, I have and had several eggs in it this spring and can't keep the humidity stable for the first time since I've had it. I don't hold out much hope for a hatch, but I'm giving them their time frame.

what are you using to monitor it? just the built in gauge? I've had some trouble getting it to where I wanted it, but I've finally gotten it there with mine and after a few days playing with it finally figured out what I have to do to keep it in the right range.

I've been using the built in with success until this springs use. My temp is steady, my humidity is dropping suddenly over and over for the first time in all of my uses.

ok, so it's worked before? I'd put more of a guess that the hygrometer isn't reading right rather than the humidity jumping, although, with the weather we've had who knows. Rain a few days, clear a few days, rain a few days, clear a few days......that will make it differ a lot as well

I'm going to get one of those that fits through the air hole and down into the egg area to compare readings. The only rub is which reading do you trust?

I tested the dials I bought with the salt test. Get a soda bottle cap, fill it with table salt. wet the salt, but you don't want water standing on top of it. Put that and the hygrometer in a zip lock bag and zip it shut. In 6 hours, it should read 75%. so whatever it reads you'll know what to add or subrtact. Like for mine, one was reading 85% the other was reading 70%. so what that first one reads, I know it's actually 10% less, the other one, it's 5% more than what it reads. I wrote it on each one, so I don't have to trust this memory of mine to remember, LOL

putting them both in with the built in one, they were really close, but the built in one wasn't even close when I did it
