Several things to check:
Humidity - Too high and the air sacs don't get big enough....the chick runs out of air when they internally pip and suffocate before they can hatch. Too low and the air sacs get too big and the chicks run out of room to grow those last few days and they get shrink wrapped and die right at the end.

Too much calcium can make the shells too hard to pip.

My hatch is still going.... My eggs are doing well! Eggs from friends and shipped not doing well! Here's how it turned out:
Shipped eggs: 12 3 broken, 3 Not fertile, 2 blood rings, 3 never pipped (bad saddle air sacs), 1 hatched and it's a boy:barnie

Friends eggs: 12 9 NF, 2 hatched, one boy and one girl and 1 not doing anything. He has since replaced his rooster who wasn't doing his job!

My eggs: 20 2 NF, 1 BR all other hatched! (17)!

Flower ... if they are Nigerian Dwarf goats, their norm is twins. Doesn't mean they don't have singles or trips (or more) ... but twins are the most frequent.

Hi all ... been crazy around here, as usual. And speaking of baby goats ... somebody showed up at my house today to give me a baby that turned up at their place and they couldn't find the owner. Adorable little Nubian buckling.

Chick, ducklings, and goslings hatching away pretty much every day now.

Ugh! What's the saying? "No good deed goes unpunished!" Well, my DH's friends sister called and wanted to buy some hens. She only wanted young hens and only wanted to pay $10 for them. I told her nobody is going to sell their young hens for $10. So she agreed to $15....not much better. I didn't want to sell any more of my hens, so I called a friend and he had some hens that were between 12-15 months old he said he would sell for $15. I went and picked up the 4 that she said she wanted and paid my friend the $60. Then this lady asked if I could buy some chicken feed because she didn't know what to get or where. So I got her two bags of crumbles. Well, she shows up and talked about maybe only getting chicks. I told her I had gone to a lot of trouble to get her these hens. She saw some of my 1 month old EEs and kept saying, "Give me those!" I was like, 'no, they aren't for sale!" She kept telling me how we are friends and I should give her one of those EEs! Ugh! So, anyway, she ended up getting 4 chicks.....including one of my EEs! and both feed and I had to give her some chick food and a small jar of PZD so she could try it in her coop, and she said she would take 3 hens. Well, the total was $92 and she only had a $100 bill, so I talked her into taking the other hen for $8! Just a fiasco and now I'm down to 3 EEs! Anyway, she got a deal as far as I am concerned! My EE cost me $3 when I got it a month ago. When I quoted $4 per chick, it was for the younger ones....not my female EEs! I'm just too nice! :barnie:barnie
