Well you'll love them anyways body or girl. They are one of the best breeds to have.

Hooray! My pullets came home! I thought the hawk took them but he only scared them off. When we came home tonight, they were here! Scared but ok. So 1 beheaded Wyandotte but everyone else ok. So my chickens outside ok. My chicks in the brooder....I think we got cocci, folks.

I was sitting out in the chicken yard today admiring one of my new little BCM and a hawk flew down and jumped on one of three new mommas who was out with their chicks. They all share the chicks, somewhat. I still can't believe it did it when I was out there. Anyway, it was trying to get her and the two others came to her rescue and beat that hawk until it flew off of her. I had also screamed and was running over there but it was those two hens that did it. I have seen this pair of hawks around all summer. The other day one was swooping down and the chickens went crazy and all hid. I feel like it's a matter of time but I hope they stay smart and don't let it get them. I have a lot of trees, bushes, fences, etc. They are just getting bolder. I've had the chickens here for a couple of years and this is the first year I've had a hawk problem. Someone even gave me one of those big owls that I put out there. Now I think that might be part of the problem. The hawk flew right next to it to get to the chicken. I'm more worried about this winter when there's no leaves on things. Do they stay in the winter, too?
