YO GEORGIANS! :)

Well my girl isn't laying yet but THANK YOU for the heads-up. I wouldn't have guessed that. Yep, gotta get a trap!
Hi! I'd be really interested in Cochin chicks...of my flock of seven, I have six. Roos and one hen :/. I really need to balance the scales with a few hens. Are you hatching LF or bantam (mine are LF)? And oooo, what colors?

Welcome!

I have seen a lot of Armadillos on my property. I am south of you. They eat grubs, earthworms etc. Thats why they are always rooting up the yard. I have heard that if you kill the grubs they will leave. They may eat eggs if they are on the ground. I don't think they can get up to most nest boxws. I wouldn't consider them a threat to anything but your lawn.

Missy there is a unique way to trap Armadillos. Instead of trying to bait ti which doesn't work too well. try to figure out where they are running. They like to travel along walls etc. The don't see too well. Take a trap like a Havahart and place it against the foundation of the house. Take a long wide board and place it against the opening of the trap and swing the other end out like a funnel into the trap. The Armadillo will walk along side of the house and the board will guide him into the trap. An old Armadillo trapper from South Alabama taught me that.Byron

Wow...thanks for all the info! They actually ran out from under my porch so I think i can set up the trapping trick pretty easily there. Thanks for passing it along!

Thanks!

I have two rhode island reds and three golds.Just getting started mainly getting them for laying hens
Cool! We only have 2 standard size hens (new hampshire and a gold laced wyandotte) rest are bantams or seramas...lots of little eggs

Somebody thinks he is all that and a bag of chick feed at 6wks.

I have a questions about getting this batch out with the others ranging from 15-21wksof age. There is no dust up while this brooder batch is in the run play pen, but they went after a chick that got loose once. It seems healthier to get this batch out in the fresh air etc.should I leave them out there and just cover the play pen at night with a tarp for a secure coop like feeling for a week?
